The researcher will explore the spatial and temporal variations of societal vulnerabilities to climate extremes at the global scale. For this purpose, the researcher will develop novel methodologies by integrating climate datasets, Earth observations, and geospatial socioeconomic statistics within an artificial intelligence framework.



The combination of these elements will provide an enhanced understanding of the vulnerability dynamics and underlying mechanisms in response to global changes. Outcomes of the research activity will contribute to the identification of hotspot areas highly vulnerable to climate extremes and to the definition of effective adaptation strategies, ultimately fostering the transition to a climate-resilient development. The work will be conducted within the Horizon SPARCCLE project in a young and multi-disciplinary team with a wide network of international collaborations.
