History Teacher - Rome City Prep Academy - Course : History of Rome *IN-PERSON*
We are seeking an engaging, English-fluent instructor to design and deliver a 27-hour “History of Rome” seminar series for high school student‑athletes from the United States. The course will start in mid-September and run over 9 weeks during our Rome City Prep Academy program; it will be held in person in Rome, with the possibility to arrange selected sessions on-site at major historical locations (e.g. Colosseum, Roman Forum).
About the course
- Roman military training, discipline and daily life
- Gladiators, arenas, spectacle and entertainment
- Sports, competition and concepts of honor and identity in ancient Rome
- Life in the imperial city: class, citizenship, public space
We would like one‑two sessions to take place on‑site, for example at the Colosseum or other historical areas of the city, so that students can experience history directly in its original setting.
All details about the course layout and content will be discussed and agreed on with the chosen instructor.
What you will do
- Design and teach a 9‑week seminar series, in English.
- Lead engaging, accessible discussions suitable for teenagers, linking ancient Rome to their world today.
- Collaborate with the Rome City Prep Academy staff to align the course with our broader educational and athletic program.
What we are looking for
- Strong knowledge of Roman history and related fields.
- Experience working with teenagers or young students.
- Excellent spoken English and clear communication skills.
- Enthusiasm for making history lively and memorable, in the classroom and on-site.
MUST BE LIVING IN OR NEAR ROME AND ABLE TO COMMUTE.
