We're partnering with a well-established technology company at the forefront of financial data and digital solutions, providing innovative software and market intelligence platforms to financial institutions and investment professionals across Europe.

As they continue to expand their engineering team, they are looking for an experienced Backend Software Engineer to help design, build, and maintain high-performance applications that support business-critical financial services.

The client is ideally looking to make a permanent hire , offering a competitive salary and generous benefits package . However, they are also open to considering experienced freelance professionals who prefer contract engagements.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop and maintain robust backend applications and services.
- Build scalable and high-performing solutions using modern software engineering best practices.
- Develop and optimise Microsoft SQL Server databases, ensuring performance, reliability and data integrity.
- Create and maintain APIs and backend integrations with internal and external systems.
- Collaborate closely with software engineers, product teams and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions.
- Troubleshoot, debug and optimise existing applications.
- Contribute to software architecture,



code reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Produce clean, maintainable and well-documented code.

Essential Skills & Experience

- 5+ years' professional experience in backend software development.
- Strong commercial experience with C# and the .NET ecosystem.
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server , including database design, optimisation and performance tuning.
- Experience developing with Python .
- Strong understanding of RESTful APIs and system integrations.
- Experience working with version control systems such as Git.
- Knowledge of software design principles and object-oriented programming.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Fluent Italian is essential.

Desirable Skills

- Experience working within financial services or FinTech environments.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure.
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
- Experience working within Agile development teams.
