In this role you lead the data center electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety operations to keep facilities at peak availability. You will act as the technical hub for EOTs, vendors, and cross‑functional teams, driving large‑scale projects from concept to completion. You’ll focus on safety, reliability, and cost‑efficient operations in AWS data centers. This position combines hands‑on engineering with program leadership in a fast‑paced, globally distributed environment.
Responsibilities
- Oversee day‑to‑day mechanical and electrical equipment operations and maintenance in data centers
- Assist design and build‑out of new facilities
- Serve as escalation point for facilities issues across the data center region and support after‑hours as needed
- Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures
- Troubleshoot and report facility/server‑level events within internal SLAs
- Create and deploy standard practices for EOTs, CE, and vendor teams
- Provide training and guidance to EOTs and assist in recruiting for the team
- Ensure safety procedures are followed by vendors and staff
- Utilize Change Management Systems to manage building workflows
- Coordinate MV/LV isolation for MV maintenance
- Provide weekly metric availability reporting
Requirements
- Good verbal and written English communication skills
- Apprentice/trades certified or diploma in Electrical field
- Demonstrate key electrical competencies (Practice & Theory)
- Knowledge of mechanical systems (HVAC, controls)
- Ability to draft English documentation and issue tracking entries
- Ability to take full ownership of technical issues
- Willingness to travel between data center sites and internationally
- Solid IT skills; proficient with MS Office
