Overview As Energy team leader at Arup Italia, you will drive the growth of integrated energy systems services across Italy, leading a multidisciplinary team and engaging with grid operators, utilities, and renewables developers. You will oversee technical delivery—from grid studies to interconnection design and storage integration—while expanding our HV, renewables, and data centre capabilities. The role combines business development with hands‐on technical leadership to support Italy's decarbonisation goals. This is a chance to shape Arup's energy design footprint in Italy and across Europe.
Responsibilities Develop and win work for integrated energy systems in Italy as the main delivery lead for Arup's energy services
Act as bid manager by liaising with clients, capturing needs, and proposing technically sound solutions
Provide technical leadership and project management across grid studies, interconnections, and integration of generation, transmission, distribution, storage, and consumption
Lead HV and renewables/storage design efforts and grow capabilities in Italy through recruitment and upskilling
Represent Arup in the energy transition, building relationships at industry events and with clients
Engage with clients and other energy teams to align projects and maintain market‐leading knowledge
Qualifications Degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering, or related discipline
+10 years of experience in HV electrical systems, substations, renewables, and BESS design in Italy
Technical expertise in HV, renewables, and storage design to guide project delivery
Experience developing and growing the Energy business in Italy, with client acquisition and project wins
Proven project management and technical leadership on grid connection projects
Strong knowledge of Italian HV transmission/distribution, renewables, and interconnections
Fluent in Italian and English
Excellent communication and client engagement skills
Willingness to travel and work on-site in Ital
