Overview

Description AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We keep the cloud running, supporting data centers, servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling to ensure continual access to our customers. We work on challenging problems with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain and seek talented people to help.

You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with teams across AWS to deliver high safety and security standards while providing capacity at the lowest possible cost. As an Amazon Field Engineer, you will provide full life-cycle support to AWS Data Centers from design inception through site improvement and maintenance.

- Possess strong engineering judgment and provide recommendations despite uncertainty/ambiguity.
- Possess excellent communication and writing skills, attention to detail, and high quality standards.
- Are organized and able to set priorities, meet deadlines and budget.
- Have experience solving problems with engineered solutions.
- Have experience managing engineering projects and consultants.
- Build trust and relationships with stakeholders (e.g., Operations, Controls, Construction, Design, Commissioning, Product Managers, Technical Program Managers).
- Are adaptable and inclined to engage with field work to see things up close.
- Are excited about a mix of office and field work.

Key responsibilities

You will be the “go-to” engineering resource for your region and will use your subject matter expertise to engage with diverse teams:

- Perform design and equipment submittal review for new Data Centers in your region.
- Troubleshoot, conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and create Corrective Action (CA) documentation for site/equipment failures.
- Directly support operational issues with ad-hoc training,



critical operating procedure reviews, including critical equipment, and event support.
- Own conceptual design for existing data center upgrades and design-solutions to add capacity, improve availability, increase efficiency and sustainability.
- Interface with internal teams to promote standards that maintain consistency and reliability in services delivered.
- Work on concurrent projects, sometimes in multiple geographical regions.
- Initiate and lead engineering audits including on-site visits; produce reports outlining risks with mitigations and remediation.
- Act as resident engineer during new construction projects; support construction, commissioning, and turnover.

A day in the life

Each day you will interact with teams responsible for all aspects of the data centers. You will prioritize activities to support data center capacity, safety, and focus on high-impact actions. You may work on projects locally and globally.

Qualifications





Basic Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Electrical engineering or equivalent
- Experience with mission-critical facilities engineering (data centers, power generation, oil & gas facilities) as an experienced engineer
- Business-level fluency in written and spoken English
- Willing to travel between Data Center sites and internationally if required

Preferred Qualifications

- Data analytics skills, data querying, scripting, and ability to work with large data sets in evolving environments
- Direct experience with design, construction, operation, or maintenance of mission-critical facilities, especially data centers
- Experience as resident engineer or hands-on design consultant or owner’s engineer
- Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region; ability to read, interpret, and create construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents
- Ability to carry design concepts through exploration, development, and deployment
- Basic understanding of mechanical/electrical equipment related to data centers (e.g., UPS, generators, switchgear, PDU, VFDs, ASTS, chillers, pumps, cooling towers, CRAHs, fans, economizers, water treatment)
- EPMS/SCADA/BMS controls system experience (software or hardware)
- Business-level fluency in written and spoken Italian

Compensation
The minimum gross base salary for this position is listed below. Base salary is for full-time work; tempo parziale hours are pro-rated. Amazon reserves the right to offer a higher salary/level based on skills and experience. Eligible for restricted stock units as applicable. Salary details: Rho, ITA - 50,000.00 EUR Annually.
