About the Role
The Core Team is the backbone of Translated's engineering organization. We own and evolve the backend systems and orchestration layer that powers how the company operates— from internal tooling and automations to translator‑facing platforms and operational workflows.
If you care about writing clean, reliable backend code that real people depend on every day—translators, operations teams, and colleagues across the company—this is your team.
You’ll work on meaningful problems: designing and building internal platforms, automating complex workflows, and improving the tools that help Translated scale efficiently. You’ll collaborate closely with other engineers, product stakeholders, and non‑technical users—and you’ll have real ownership of what you build.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain backend services and internal platforms used across the company
- Own features and projects end‑to‑end, from technical design to production
- Contribute to automation and orchestration systems that improve operational efficiency




- Participate in code reviews — both giving and receiving thoughtful feedback
- Write tests and take code quality seriously (without being dogmatic about it)
- Collaborate with teammates across engineering, product, and operations
- Write clear technical documentation that others can actually use

Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in backend software development
- Proficiency in Node.js (TypeScript and JavaScript)
- Good knowledge of SQL and relational databases (MySQL)
- Solid understanding of server‑side web application architectures
- Comfortable working with Docker and containerized environments
- Proficiency in Git and GitHub‑based workflows
- Enjoys owning problems end‑to‑end and will go out of their way to acquire whatever knowledge it takes to get the job done
- Excellent communication skills — able to talk about technical topics with non‑technical people clearly and without condescension
