Change the World. AECOM's Enterprise Capabilities is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join the Mechanical Engineering team in Milan, Italy. The position is suited for engineers with around 5 years of experience in HVAC and mechanical building services, with exposure to data centers or mission-critical facilities. The role focuses on the design and coordination of HVAC and cooling systems, supporting data center and critical infrastructure projects within multidisciplinary teams. Key Responsibilities Support the design of HVAC and heat rejection systems for data centers and mission-critical environments, considering cooling loads, redundancy concepts, flexibility for phased expansion, airflow management, humidity control, and energy efficiency. Contribute to the selection and layout of cooling solutions such as CRAH/CRAC units, chilled water systems, DX systems,
in-row cooling, fan wall units, and basic containment strategies, based on project requirements. Perform cooling and heating load calculations using industry tools, under the supervision of senior engineers when required. Assist in the design of chilled water plants, precision cooling systems, and mechanical ventilation systems, including preliminary equipment sizing and component selection. Prepare and support the development of technical drawings, specifications, calculation notes, and reports in English. Develop HVAC schematics, basic system architectures, single-line control diagrams, and P&IDs; for mechanical systems. Support HVAC system modeling in Revit, coordinate with other disciplines, and assist with clash detection activities using Revit and/or Navisworks.
