Job Title: Associate or Senior Editor Nature Water Location: Shanghai, Beijing and Milan Application Deadline: July 10, 2026 Nature Water publishes research and opinion across the full spectrum of water‐related research, encompassing fundamental and applied studies of water resources dynamics, water and wastewater treatment, and the relationship between society and water resources. The journal welcomes interdisciplinary studies in earth and environmental sciences, engineering, economics, behavioural science and other social sciences. Responsibilities Handle original research papers and work closely with editorial teams on all aspects of the editorial process, including manuscript selection and overseeing peer review. Make well‐reasoned editorial decisions on submitted manuscripts in consultation with expert advice. Contribute to content and strategy for Nature Water and other Nature Portfolio journals as needed. Commission, edit content such as reviews, or write editorials.



Liaise extensively with editors at other journals in the Nature Portfolio and with experts in the international scientific community. Attend conferences and visit research institutions. Qualifications A Ph D (or equivalent) in a field related to water resources science. Additional research experience valuable but not required. Thorough understanding of recent trends and developments in the field. Passion for science and a breadth of interest in scientific research, both within and beyond the candidate's specialty. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including fluent English (written and spoken). Ability to read and assess the novelty, context and implications of research submitted to the journal from different areas of the discipline. Eagerness to travel and meet scientists worldwide, learning about their work and helping them understand what the journal seeks to publish.
