We are looking for a Science Community Lead based in Italy. The role focuses on building and nurturing a global community of scientists, researchers, and biotech enthusiasts within an innovative decentralized science ecosystem. The incumbent will create engaging spaces where scientific collaboration, discussion, and discovery can thrive, particularly across Discord and other online platforms. This position blends community building, science communication, and event hosting, with a strong emphasis on fostering meaningful connections between researchers and emerging voices in biotech.
Responsibilities
Build, manage, and grow online science communities, primarily on Discord, including channel structure, onboarding flows, bots, and engagement systems.
Host and facilitate community events such as AMAs, journal clubs, voice discussions, and live online sessions.
Develop and execute community programming that encourages participation, highlights member research, and fosters collaboration.
Identify and connect researchers, scientists,
and emerging voices to encourage collaboration and knowledge exchange.
Moderate discussions to maintain a welcoming, inclusive, and high‐quality community environment.
Track engagement metrics and experiment with new formats and initiatives to improve community health and participation.
Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, or a related scientific field.
Strong familiarity with online communities, particularly Discord, Reddit, and/or X (Twitter), with prior moderation experience preferred.
Excellent written communication skills with a warm, accessible, and engaging tone.
Comfort hosting live events, voice chats, and interactive community sessions.
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
Proactive mindset with a willingness to experiment, iterate, and improve community engagement strategies.
