The journal has a strong multidisciplinary identity (encompassing research across the social, biological, health, and physical sciences) and places a strong emphasis on rigorous scientific practices.



/p pDo you love science but feel that an academic career isn’t enough to sate your desire to learn more about scientific research? Do you enjoy reading papers outside your chosen area of research? If the answer is ‘yes’ to any or all these questions, you could be the person we’re looking for to join the Nature Portfolio editorial team. /p pTo help us build on the success of the portfolio, we’re seeking an editor with expertise in computational science or any of the social sciences. We are particularly interested in candidates with a multidisciplinary background, strong quantitative skills, and broad interests in human behaviour research, as the role involves engaging with research in multiple diverse disciplines across the social and natural sciences. /p pThis is a permanent position within the Nature Portfolio. The successful candidate will primarily support Nature Human Behaviour and may collaborate closely with other Nature Portfolio journals as needed. Please note that responsibilities and journal assignments may evolve over time in response to portfolio needs. /p h3The responsibilities include: /h3 ul liHandling original research papers and working closely with editor teams on all aspects of the editorial process, including manuscript selection and overseeing peer review. /li liMaking well-reasoned editorial decisions on submitted manuscripts in the light of expert advice. /li liContributing to content and strategy in this area at Nature Human Behaviour and other Nature Portfolio journals as needed. /li liCommissioning and editing content such as Reviews, or writing editorials. /li liLiaising extensively with editors at other journals in the Nature Portfolio and with experts in the international scientific community. /li liAttending conferences and visiting research institutions. /li /ul h3To be considered for the position, you will have: /h3 ul liA PhD (or equivalent)



in a field related to computational science or any of the quantitative social sciences. /li liAdditional research experience valuable but not needed. /li liA thorough understanding of recent trends and developments in the field is essential. /li liA passion for science and a thirst to learn more. You must be able to demonstrate the breadth of your interest in scientific research, both within and beyond your speciality. /li liExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, including fluent English (written and spoken). /li liThe ability to read and assess the contribution, context and implications of research submitted to the journal from different disciplines. /li liBe eager to travel and meet scientists worldwide, learn more about them and their research, and help them learn more about us and what we are looking for in the papers we seek to publish. /li liEditorial experience is not required, although applicants with editorial experience are encouraged to apply and may be considered for Senior Editor positions. /li /ul pThe successful candidates will report to the Chief Editor of the journal. /p pThis demanding and intellectually stimulating role is in either of our Shanghai, Milan or Pune offices.
