The role is for an Associate or Senior Editor covering the broad area of cancer research. /ph3Role responsibilities /h3ulliCritically evaluate research manuscripts and make initial editorial decisions. /liliSelect and engage peer reviewers, interpret advice to make post-review editorial decisions. /liliHelp prospective authors address reviewer feedback and streamline manuscript revision. /liliEnsure that all stakeholders comply with best professional, scientific and ethical practices. /liliWork closely with the chief editor and editorial team to make sound decisions and contribute to the journal’s annual strategic plan. /liliMake timely decisions and adhere to internal processing deadlines. /liliFoster relationships with Springer Nature teams beyond Nature Genetics.
/liliWrite front-half pieces such as Editorials and Research Highlights, and edit research manuscripts. /liliSelect and participate in, or co-organise, international scientific meetings and conferences relevant to the journal’s scope. /liliEngage with the global scientific community through institutional and laboratory visits. /liliRespond promptly to requests from authors, reviewers and colleagues. /liliAdhere to and help improve internal pipelines, editorial processes and policies. /li /ulh3Experience, Skills Qualifications /h3h3Essential /h3ulliPh.D. in cancer research or oncology, or a Ph.D. in biomedical research followed by postdoctoral experience in cancer research. /liliBroad interest in science and in-depth knowledge of the cancer research field. /liliAbility to understand and critically evaluate relevant research. /liliFluency in spoken and written English. /liliProven scientific and academic writing skills. /liliExcellent communication and relationship-building abilities. /liliWillingness to learn new fields and engage with the scientific community. /liliAbility to work in a fast-paced, target-driven environment. /liliDetail-, time- and quality-oriented with strong organisational and prioritisation skills. /liliBasic understanding of publishing workflows and systems. /li /ulh3Desirable /h3ulliExpertise in bioinformatics. /liliPostdoctoral experience. /liliEditorial experience. /li /ulpFull training will be given; candidates with editorial experience may be considered for a Senior Editor position. /ppSpringer Nature promotes an inclusive work environment and welcomes applications from individuals belonging to protected categories under Italian Law 68/99.
