Country Regulatory Manager – Southern Europe (Italy, Greece & Malta)
Location:
Homebased – Italy
Salary:
€55,000 to €70,000 base p/a
Join a Growing European Regulatory Powerhouse
Our client is a fast-growing, internationally focused crop protection company that is actively strengthening its regulatory organisation across Europe. While many competitors are scaling back, this business is investing heavily in its portfolio and its people – and is now creating a brand-new Country Regulatory Manager position to take ownership of key Southern European markets.
This role gives you end-to-end responsibility for regulatory activities across Italy, Greece, and Malta, ensuring successful registration, maintenance, and defence of plant protection products in line with both national and EU requirements. You'll sit right at the interface between central regulatory strategy and local market execution, with clear visibility and a direct impact on market access and portfolio performance.
Why This Role Exists – and Why It's Exciting
Sustained growth, an expanding portfolio, and increasing regulatory complexity across Southern Europe mean the company now needs dedicated country-level leadership. Instead of slotting into a rigid hierarchy, you will be stepping into a newly created role, with the mandate to shape how regulatory strategy is implemented across your markets.
The business combines the stability of an established global organisation with the agility of a smaller, entrepreneurial setup. Regulatory professionals are embedded alongside commercial, technical, and supply chain teams, ensuring your work is not just about compliance; it actively steers product positioning, lifecycle decisions, market access and commercial outcomes.
The culture is collaborative, pragmatic, and supportive, with a strong emphasis on expertise, accountability, and trust. You'll work with experienced colleagues across multiple countries, manage a diverse product portfolio, and tackle a wide range of regulatory challenges, all while having a clear pathway for long-term development and broader European exposure.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
Develop and implement country regulatory strategies for Italy, Greece, and Malta, aligned with wider business objectives.
Manage the registration, maintenance, renewal, amendment, and defence of plant protection product registrations.
Coordinate regulatory submissions and ensure full compliance with national requirements and timelines.
Support new product introductions and portfolio expansion across your territories.
Monitor regulatory developments and assess their impact on current and future registrations.
Ensure timely, high-quality responses to authority requests, data calls, and deficiency letters.
Maintain accurate records of approvals, timelines, and product lifecycle activities.

Support the preparation and adaptation of registration dossiers to meet local market needs.
Review and approve product labels to ensure regulatory compliance.
Work closely with Active Substance Managers to align active substance strategy with country priorities.
Act as the primary regulatory contact for national competent authorities and key stakeholders.
Provide regulatory guidance to commercial, technical, and supply chain teams, ensuring alignment between science and business.
Manage external consultants, CROs, and regulatory service providers.
Support the planning and coordination of regulatory studies (e.g. efficacy, residue, other trials).
Contribute to continuous improvement of regulatory processes, tools, and ways of working.
Key Requirements
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
Degree in Agronomy, Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Sciences, Toxicology, or a related discipline.
5-10 years' experience in regulatory affairs within the crop protection / agrochemical sector.
Strong track record managing plant protection product registrations in Italy.
Experience supporting registrations in Greece and/or Malta is a strong plus.
Solid understanding of Regulation (EC) ********* and broader European regulatory frameworks.
Hands-on experience managing registration dossiers and lifecycle processes.
Direct interaction with national regulatory authorities and experience owning submission processes end-to-end.
Knowledge of zonal procedures and mutual recognition processes.
Strong project management and organisational skills, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and deadlines.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills in an international environment.
Strong commercial awareness, with the ability to align regulatory activities with business objectives.
Fluency in Italian and English; additional languages are an advantage.
What's In It for You?
Newly created role with genuine ownership of strategically important markets (Italy, Greece, Malta).
Operate at the intersection of regulatory strategy and commercial execution, with high visibility across both regional and local teams.
Opportunity to grow alongside a strengthening EMEA regulatory organisation and play a role in wider European initiatives.
Homebased in Italy with a supportive, collaborative environment where regulatory expertise is genuinely valued.
Exposure to both technical and strategic aspects of regulatory affairs across a diverse product portfolio.
Salary:

€55,000 to €70,000 base + Variable Premio + Home Working Allowance + Addtional Fringe Benefits
