Short Term Power Trader
in S&EM; Italy, based in Rome (Viale Giorgio Ribotta 31).
ENGIE Supply & Energy Management (S&EM;)
provides energy supply solutions and risk management services to support its clients through their decarbonization journey, while optimizing ENGIE's assets and contributing to value creation.
What will you do?
As short term power trader, you will be part of Assets Optimization and Trading (AOT, one of the local Global Business Unit Energy management Italy –S&EM; Italy– ). His/her role will be contributing to create value around S&EM; Italian assets & Trading.
Based on its perimeter defined by Short term Power Optimization & Trading Manager the candidate will:
Manage Power Asset: spot market dispatching and Optimization (Day Ahead; Intraday, Ancillaries markets) defining and execute the best strategies on the spot energy markets (Day Ahead; Intraday, Ancillaries markets) in order to maximize the margin and minimize risks
Manage Short term (intra-month and month ahead) power co2 and gas portfolio, maximizing results and minimizing risk, through all flexibility offered by the markets
Assess market strategies of competitors through the development of new analysis tools
Through analysis on power balancing markets based on probabilistic models, optimize the bidding and maximize margins
Develop analysis on availability and outages of power plants and transmission grid, implementing a methodology and a model to reproduce the behavior of market competitors and transmission operator
Manage CCC auctions in order to maximize the margin and minimize risks
What will you bring to ENGIE?
Degree in Engineering/Finance/Economics/Mathematics
Minimum 5 years experience in Energy Management and/or in the energy space
Excellent knowledge of Italian market design and fundamentals (e.g. Day Ahead; Intraday, Ancillaries markets, intrazonal constraints), knowledge of global energy markets is a plus;
Excellent experience in quantitative analysis and probabilistic model
Knowledge of trading environment (and related risk metrics) as well as experience in hedging instruments/strategies is a strong plus
Attitude to work in availability (24hours/7 days)
Attitude to change, mobility & flexibility
Eager to learn new things, curious and passionate in commodities and financial markets and new developments in the energy sphere
An attitude and practice of proactive idea generation and continuous review and improvement of processes
Fluent English and Italian
Proficient knowledge of Python and Excel (possibly VBA).
