About the Role
The Fund Raising Division is responsible for securing competitive research funding from European and international programmes. We're hiring a Research Grants & Contract Management Officer to strengthen pre?award and negotiation capacity. The successful candidate will support proposal preparation, legal review, and consortium agreement management, acting as the operational bridge between Fundraising, Legal, and Project Management.

Responsibilities
Support the Fund Raising team in proposal preparation and submission, ensuring compliance with funder legal requirements and internal procedures.
Coordinate with FR team members, Legal & Contract Advisory, Principal Investigators, Project Managers, and internal units during proposal development.
Draft and review pre?award documents including letters of intent, eligibility checks, due diligence questionnaires, and declarations.
Liaise with the CMCC Legal & Contract Advisory team for drafting and finalisation of NDAs, MoUs, and other pre?contractual instruments.
Work with the Fundraising Office to shape consortium governance structures and anticipate key negotiation issues.
Define, in collaboration with the Legal Office, the Foundation's non?negotiable positions on IPR, liability, confidentiality, and consortium governance.
Create, maintain and update a knowledge base of model clauses, standard documents, funder guidelines,
and best practices.
Lead the preparation and negotiation of Consortium Agreements for Horizon Europe projects.
Manage IPR clause negotiations, coordinate with consortium partners, and liaise with internal units to finalise agreements.
Oversee collection of signatures, support management of other project agreements, conduct legal due diligence, and maintain an up?to?date repository of agreements.
Contribute to the development of FR procedures and internal tools, participate in cross?functional working groups, and provide guidance and training to team members.
Requirements
Master's degree in Law, European Studies, International Relations or related field; additional training in contract law is an asset.
Minimum 3 years of grant and contract management experience within a research institution or similar environment.
Proficiency in English; ability to read and interpret contractual texts in English and Italian.
Strong analytical, drafting, and negotiation skills.
Experience with Horizon Europe, FP7/H**** and other major European funding schemes.
Knowledge of the DESCA model consortium agreement and EU grant standard clauses.
In?depth knowledge of Horizon Europe regulations and eligibility rules.
Familiarity with EU submission and management tools (Funding & Tenders Portal, SYGMA).
Solid understanding of IPR concepts in research.
Experience coordinating multi?partner consortia and managing complex contractual negotiations.
Knowledge of major research funding programmes, including EU, Italian MUR, and private foundations.
Experience liaising with legal and administrative offices in international settings.
Public law or experience with publicly?funded institutions is preferred.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Strong analytical and drafting skills, with attention to detail and ability to conduct legal due diligence.
Negotiation skills: ability to conduct multi?party negotiations while protecting CMCC's interests.
Awareness of data management and GDPR compliance.
Cross?functional collaboration ability across Legal, Fundraising, Project Management, Finance.
Managing complexity: ability to track parallel processes and maintain accuracy.
Proficiency in standard office tools and familiar with document management platforms.
Familiarity with AI tools and willingness to develop AI?assisted workflows for contractual and grant management.
DURATION, COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Position available for internal and external candidates.
Based in Milan (or Lecce, if preferred).
Contract type: Coordinated & Continuous Collaboration or Fixed?Term, 1 year with option to extend.
National Collective Labour Agreement applies.
Gross annual salary range: €35,000 – €50,000, based on experience.
Welfare package of €2,000 per year.
Flexible working time as per internal policies.
