Position Overview

Palermo Consolidated School is seeking a compassionate, collaborative, and student-centered Special Education Resource Room Teacher to join our dedicated K–5 team for the 2026–2027 school year.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide specially designed instruction in both resource room and inclusive classroom settings.
- Develop,



implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Use assessment and progress-monitoring data to design and adjust instruction to meet individual student needs.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, related service providers, educational technicians, and families to support student achievement.
- Conduct academic evaluations and classroom observations.
- Participate in IEP meetings, multidisciplinary team meetings, and professional learning opportunities.
- Foster an inclusive learning environment that promotes student independence, confidence, and success.

Qualifications

- Valid Maine Certification 282 – Teacher of Students with Disabilities required.
- Experience working with elementary-aged students preferred.
- Knowledge of evidence-based instructional practices and special education law.
- Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills.
- A positive, flexible, and student-focused approach to supporting diverse learners.
