About the Role
We are looking for an Accountant to join our EMEA Finance team based in Italy. The role reports to the EMEA Corporate Financial Controller and covers internal US GAAP reporting to a US listed parent, external statutory GAAP reporting across multiple EMEA countries, compliance requirements, and balance sheet reconciliations.
The primary focus is on supporting Italian operations, with scope to work on other EMEA countries, coordinating external firms for local compliance, and managing statutory audit processes across the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Monthly accounting close: prepare and post journal entries including payroll reports from external agencies, prepaid expenses, expense accruals, and lease capitalisation entries.
- Review transactions for fixed asset capitalisation, maintain the fixed asset register, initiate depreciation journals, and liaise with stakeholders to ensure accuracy.
- Prepare bank reconciliations and post general ledger adjustments.
- Post quarterly tax journals and coordinate with the EMEA tax team.
- Manage inter‑company loan schedules, record interest accruals, and perform inter‑company reconciliations for multiple EMEA entities.
- Prepare general ledger account reconciliations in line with SOX requirements; submit monthly into the FTI Blackline environment.
- Assist in reviewing and approving journals prepared by corporate accountants.
- Enhance month‑end processes, ensuring compliance with US GAAP.
- Maintain strict adherence to the SOX compliance process, including handling queries and self‑assessment.
- Assist with the preparation and finalisation of annual statutory accounts for multiple EMEA entities.
- Coordinate with external auditors and manage audit deliverables.
- Collaborate with the internal audit team for US GAAP testing and group audit requirements.
- Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly,
and annual VAT returns for large companies and EC Sales for multiple entities, coordinating with outsourced accountants/tax advisors.
- Other duties and ad‑hoc support as directed by the EMEA Financial Controller.

Basic Qualifications
- Qualified accountant with 3+ years post‑qualification experience (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent degree.
- Experience performing month‑end close in an industry setting.
- Strong technical accounting skills and experience with Italian GAAP and US GAAP.
- Experience in large organisations, handling significant volume of accounting data in an ERP environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional services background or experience in a matrix organisation with European subsidiaries.
- Working knowledge of VAT reporting (output, input, liability) in a matrix organisation.
- French language skills are a plus.
