Job Title: IT System Administrator
Reports To: IT Director / Manager of Infrastructure
Department: Information Technology
Employment Type: Full-Time
Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and proactive IT System Administrator to manage, maintain, and secure our organization's IT infrastructure. You will be responsible for the configuration, reliability, and performance of our servers, networks, and end-user systems.
The ideal candidate is a problem-solver who thrives in a fast-paced environment, possesses deep knowledge of operating systems and networking, and has a strong focus on cybersecurity and automation.
Key Responsibilities1. Infrastructure Management
- Install, configure, and maintain servers (Windows Server, Linux), virtual machines (VMware/Hyper-V), and cloud instances (AWS/Azure/GCP).
- Monitor system performance, uptime, and health; troubleshoot hardware, software, and network errors.
- Manage data backup, disaster recovery protocols, and failover procedures.
2. Network Administration
- Configure and manage firewalls, routers, switches, and VPNs.
- Ensure network security protocols are up to date (IDS/IPS, ACLs).
- Manage DHCP, DNS, and IP address allocation.
3. User & Endpoint Support
- Administer user accounts, permissions, and access control in Active Directory / Entra ID (Azure AD).
- Support end-users with hardware (desktops/laptops), software installation, and peripheral setup.
- Provide Tier 2/3 technical support escalation for the helpdesk team.
4. Security & Compliance
- Implement and maintain endpoint protection (antivirus, EDR).
- Apply security patches and system updates promptly.
- Assist in security audits and ensure compliance with industry regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, SOC2).
5. Automation & Documentation
- Write and maintain scripts (PowerShell, Bash, Python) to automate repetitive tasks.
- Create and maintain detailed system documentation, network diagrams, and SOPs.
- Manage software licensing and asset inventory.
QualificationsRequired Skills & Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent work experience.
- Experience: [X] years of experience in system administration or network engineering.
- Operating Systems: Expert knowledge of Windows Server and/or Linux (RedHat, Ubuntu).
- Virtualization: Experience with VMware vSphere, Hyper-V, or Proxmox.
- Networking: Strong understanding of TCP/IP, Subnetting, VLANs, and Routing.
- Scripting: Proficiency in at least one scripting language (PowerShell, Bash, Python).
- Cloud: Familiarity with Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Directory Services: Active Directory, Group Policy, and Entra ID (Azure AD).
Preferred Certifications (Not required, but a plus)
- CompTIA Server+ / Network+
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
- Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)
- Cisco CCNA
- ITIL Foundation
