Job Description Summary

Working under the direct supervision of the pharmacist(s), the pharmacy technician assists in all pharmacy operations' functions related to: (1) preparation & distribution of all doses of medication; (2) maintenance of drug inventories (e.g., re-stocking automated dispensing cabinets throughout the hospital, drug packaging/re-packaging, extemporaneous compounding, code cart re-stock, etc); and, (3) completion of patients' records pertaining to drug therapy (aminoglycoside protocol orders, drug charges & credits etc)

Assists a registered pharmacist with support activities and processes required to dispense medical prescriptions. Collects, inputs, and verifies prescription, refill, and patient information. Receives and stocks incoming supplies.



May prepare labels and routine prepacked orders. May be expected to perform some clerical duties relating to the department.

Additional Job Description

Education:

- High School Diploma required;college-level courses desirable but not required;successful completion of a certified pharmacy technician training program required

Experience:

- (Preferred) two or more years of experience in a hospital or health system.

Licensures/Certifications:

- Pharmacy Technician Registration in SC
