We are looking for a highly motivated Climate Finance Specialist to join our multidisciplinary team working to advance climate adaptation and resilience through innovative financing approaches. The successful candidate will bring a strong understanding of the climate finance architecture, public and private investment mechanisms, and the challenges associated with mobilising finance for adaptation and resilience‑building actions. We are looking for someone who thrives in collaborative and fast‑paced environments, is comfortable engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders—including financial institutions, public authorities, investors, and research organisations—and enjoys working across disciplines to address real‑world adaptation challenges. The role requires a highly organised professional with excellent coordination skills and experience supporting the development and management of complex projects and funding proposals. This position offers the opportunity to help shape emerging approaches to adaptation finance and investment mobilisation while contributing to high‑impact projects that inform policy, practice, and financial decision‑making across Europe and beyond. /p h3ROLE /h3 pThe Climate Finance Specialist will report to the Principal Investigator and the Principal Scientist, contributing to the design, implementation, and evaluation of activities related to climate adaptation finance and investment mobilisation. /p h3RESPONSIBILITIES /h3 ul liDeveloping strategies to mobilise private capital alongside public funding instruments to accelerate climate adaptation and resilience investments. /li liContributing to the design, assessment,
and implementation of innovative financing approaches and investment mechanisms for climate adaptation and resilience. /li liEngaging with financial institutions, public authorities, investors, research organisations, and other stakeholders to strengthen adaptation finance ecosystems and facilitate collaboration. /li liMonitoring and analysing climate finance policies, funding programmes, and investment frameworks at European and international levels to support project activities and strategic initiatives. /li liLeading or supporting the preparation of competitive funding proposals, as well as the implementation, coordination, and reporting of national and international research and innovation projects. /li liSupporting stakeholder engagement, partnership development, and dissemination activities to maximise project impact and facilitate knowledge exchange. /li liRepresenting CMCC in project meetings, technical workshops, conferences, and other engagement activities with project partners and external stakeholders. /li /ul h3REQUIREMENTS /h3 ul liPhD in Climate Change, Environmental Economics, Environmental Policy, Sustainable Finance, or a related field. /li liA minimum of 8 years of professional experience in climate finance, sustainable finance, climate policy, adaptation finance, or related fields. /li liFluency in English, both written and spoken. /li liStrong analytical skills and attention to detail. /li liAbility to work independently while contributing effectively to multidisciplinary and international teams.
/li liProven experience in managing complex projects and coordinating multiple stakeholders. /li /ul h3DURATION, COMPENSATION BENEFITS /h3 ul liPlease note that this opportunity will be advertised both internally and externally. /li liThe Climate Finance Specialist will be based at CMCC's Venice office. /li liThe selected candidate will be offered a Coordinated and Continuous Collaboration (Co.Co.Co.) contract, starting in September 2026 and lasting for 3 months. /li liThe gross annual salary for this position ranges from €45,000 to €55,000. The salary offered within this range will be determined based on the candidate's relevant professional experience, level of seniority, and specific technical skills, applying objective and gender‑neutral criteria. /li liFlexible working hours in accordance with internal policies. /li liSupport throughout the immigration process, if required. /li /ul h3PROTECTED CATEGORY /h3 pBelonging to legally protected categories (ex L. 68/99) will constitute a preferential condition.
