ph3Role Overview /h3 pThe Senior Commissioning Engineer is responsible for leading the end-to-end commissioning of Fluence energy storage projects across EMEA and globally.
This role ensures that all systems are tested, validated, and integrated in accordance with technical standards, contractual requirements, and grid regulations to enable safe and successful commercial operation.
Working cross-functionally with construction, engineering, contractors, and external stakeholders, the Senior Commissioning Engineer drives commissioning strategy, planning, and execution, while ensuring quality, safety, and performance at every stage.
This position plays a critical role in transitioning projects from construction to operations by delivering fully commissioned, compliant, and operational energy storage systems.
/p h3Key Responsibilities /h3 ul liCommission Fluence Projects working in cooperation with multiple project stakeholders including Fluence construction managers, contractors, suppliers, telecommunication teams, control systems teams, etc.
/li liDevelop and execute commissioning plans including resourcing and scheduling.
/li liLead commissioning effort to achieve commercial operations, and handover from delivery/construction team to the OM team for each project.
/li liDefine, develop and execute testing protocols based on market rules, local utility requirements, off-taker and third-party supply contracts.




/li liOversee complete commissioning and acceptance testing of the following systems: ul liProject networks, communications, and control systems.
/li liBalance of plant relay protection, metering, HVAC, fire suppression, and electrical systems.
/li liBattery subsystem.
/li liInverter subsystem.
/li /ul /li liPerform electricity market and/or off-taker qualification testing as required for the project to commence commercial operations.
/li liTravel throughout EMEA and internationally.
/li /ul h3Required Qualifications Experience /h3 ul liUndergraduate degree in electrical engineering (Bachelor / Master) or an equivalent training.
/li liMinimum 10 years of relevant work experience.
/li liRelevant knowledge in the area of battery storage systems, inverter, switchgear for low and medium voltage.
/li liExcellent knowledge of the battery energy storage related standards and regulations of the VDE, IEC, IEEE in general.
/li liWillingness to continuously improve and develop the professional skills.
/li liAbility to convince others through initiative, constructive criticism, collegiality, decision-making ability, result orientation and a high level of quality awareness.
/li liProfessional reporting and excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
/li liFluent in English and German.
