ph3CMCC Position cod. 12834 – Researcher in Advanced Spatial Modelling of the Built Environment for Climate Adaption and Resilience /h3 pDeadline: July 21, 2026 /p h3WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR /h3 pWe seek a highly motivated and well‑organized researcher with a background in Building Information Modelling (BIM), Urban Digital Twins (UDT) and climate‑informed decision‑support systems. The ideal candidate has experience developing and applying modelling frameworks to support climate adaptation, urban regeneration, and resilience planning. The position requires expertise in urban and building‑scale modelling, scenario analysis, and the assessment of climate risks, vulnerabilities, and adaptation strategies across multiple spatial scales. The candidate should demonstrate familiarity with digital representations of the built environment, spatial analysis of buildings and infrastructure systems, and data‑driven approaches supporting climate risk and resilience assessments. Experience in climate risk assessment, urban systems modelling, decision‑support tools, and visualization environments for policy and planning applications is considered a plus. Strong organisational skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and proactive engagement with interdisciplinary teams and external stakeholders are highly valued. /p h3ROLE /h3 pThe Researcher reports to the REMHI Division Director and is responsible for contributing to the development of advanced modelling and simulation approaches for assessing climate adaptation and resilience in the built environment. The role focuses on designing, developing, and applying spatial and computational modelling frameworks to represent buildings, infrastructures, and urban systems, and to evaluate their response to current and future climate stressors.
The Researcher will support research and innovation activities related to urban environment modelling, scenario analysis, and performance assessment, supporting the evaluation of climate risks, vulnerabilities, and the definition of evidence‑based adaptation strategies for urban regeneration across multiple spatial scales. /p h3RESPONSIBILITIES /h3 ul liDevelop and implement Urban Digital Twin frameworks and BIM‑enabled workflows for the digital representation, simulation, and monitoring of buildings and infrastructures under climate stressors. /li liLead BIM–GIS interoperability processes, including data conversion, harmonisation, and visualization based on open standards (IFC, CityGML, CityJSON, glTF/GLB, 3D Tiles). /li liDevelop and apply methodologies and semi‑automated procedures for computing and visualising indicators and KPIs related to climate resilience, energy performance, urban comfort, and public space quality. /li liContribute to 2D/3D visualisation environments and digital interfaces for comparing baseline and alternative urban regeneration scenarios. /li liCollaborate with interdisciplinary teams across engineering, architecture, urban planning, and digital technologies. /li /ul h3REQUIREMENTS /h3 ul liPhD in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related disciplines. /li liProven experience in Building Information Modelling (BIM) and digital twins for the built environment.
/li liSolid understanding of BIM environments and standards (IFC, openBIM, ISO 19650); hands‑on experience with BIM software such as Revit, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Bentley, or BlenderBIM. /li liFamiliarity with Common Data Environments (CDEs), urban digital twin architectures, and BIM–GIS interoperability workflows. /li liFamiliarity with 2D/3D and web visualisation technologies (e.g., CesiumJS, Three.js, IfcOpenShell, Speckle) is an asset. /li liExcellent knowledge of English; good communication and team‑working skills. /li /ul h3DURATION, COMPENSATION BENEFITS /h3 ul liOpportunity is offered both internally and externally. /li liThe manager will be based in the Caserta CMCC office. /li liThe contract is a Coordinated and Continuous Collaboration contract, starting from 1 October 2021 and lasting for 12 months. /li liThe gross annual salary range is €29,000 – €39,000, determined based on experience, seniority, and technical skills. /li liWelfare package of €2,000 per year. /li liFlexible working time as per internal policies. /li liSupport during the immigration process if needed. /li /ul h3PROTECTED CATEGORY /h3 pBelonging to legally protected categories will constitute a preferential condition.
