We’re hiring a Research Grants Contract Management Officer to strengthen pre‑award and negotiation capacity. The successful candidate will support proposal preparation, legal review, and consortium agreement management, acting as the operational bridge between Fundraising, Legal, and Project Management. /p h3What We Offer /h3 ul liThe opportunity to join a dynamic international research environment. /li liDirect involvement in a broad portfolio of European and international projects. /li liOpportunities for professional development and training. /li liParticipation in national and international research management networks. /li liA newly created role to shape processes and tools. /li liA competitive compensation package and flexible working arrangements. /li /ul h3Responsibilities /h3 ul liSupport the Fund Raising team in proposal preparation and submission, ensuring compliance with funder legal requirements and internal procedures. /li liCoordinate with FR team members, Legal Contract Advisory, Principal Investigators, Project Managers, and internal units during proposal development. /li liDraft and review pre‑award documents including letters of intent, eligibility checks, due diligence questionnaires, and declarations. /li liLiaise with the CMCC Legal Contract Advisory team for drafting and finalisation of NDAs, MoUs, and other pre‑contractual instruments. /li liWork with the Fundraising Office to shape consortium governance structures and anticipate key negotiation issues. /li liDefine, in collaboration with the Legal Office, the Foundation’s non‑negotiable positions on IPR, liability, confidentiality, and consortium governance. /li liCreate, maintain and update a knowledge base of model clauses, standard documents, funder guidelines, and best practices.
/li liLead the preparation and negotiation of Consortium Agreements for Horizon Europe projects. /li liManage IPR clause negotiations, coordinate with consortium partners, and liaise with internal units to finalise agreements. /li liOversee collection of signatures, support management of other project agreements, conduct legal due diligence, and maintain an up‑to‑date repository of agreements. /li liContribute to the development of FR procedures and internal tools, participate in cross‑functional working groups, and provide guidance and training to team members. /li /ul h3Requirements /h3 ul liMaster’s degree in Law, European Studies, International Relations or related field; additional training in contract law is an asset. /li liMinimum 3 years of grant and contract management experience within a research institution or similar environment. /li liProficiency in English; ability to read and interpret contractual texts in English and Italian. /li liStrong analytical, drafting, and negotiation skills. /li liExperience with Horizon Europe, FP7/H2020 and other major European funding schemes. /li liKnowledge of the DESCA model consortium agreement and EU grant standard clauses. /li liIn‑depth knowledge of Horizon Europe regulations and eligibility rules. /li liFamiliarity with EU submission and management tools (Funding Tenders Portal, SYGMA). /li liSolid understanding of IPR concepts in research. /li liExperience coordinating multi‑partner consortia and managing complex contractual negotiations. /li liKnowledge of major research funding programmes, including EU, Italian MUR, and private foundations.
/li liExperience liaising with legal and administrative offices in international settings. /li liPublic law or experience with publicly‑funded institutions is preferred. /li liExcellent interpersonal and communication skills. /li liStrong analytical and drafting skills, with attention to detail and ability to conduct legal due diligence. /li liNegotiation skills: ability to conduct multi‑party negotiations while protecting CMCC’s interests. /li liAwareness of data management and GDPR compliance. /li liCross‑functional collaboration ability across Legal, Fundraising, Project Management, Finance. /li liManaging complexity: ability to track parallel processes and maintain accuracy. /li liProficiency in standard office tools and familiar with document management platforms. /li liFamiliarity with AI tools and willingness to develop AI‑assisted workflows for contractual and grant management. /li /ul h3DURATION, COMPENSATION BENEFITS /h3 ul liPosition available for internal and external candidates. /li liBased in Milan (or Lecce, if preferred). /li liContract type: Coordinated Continuous Collaboration or Fixed‑Term, 1 year with option to extend. /li liNational Collective Labour Agreement applies. /li liGross annual salary range: €35,000 – €50,000, based on experience. /li liWelfare package of €2,000 per year. /li liFlexible working time as per internal policies. /li liSupport during immigration process if needed. /li /ul h3PROTECTED CATEGORY EEO STATEMENT /h3 pCMCC is an equal‑opportunity employer.
