Written By Marcie Dumais The Kiwanis Club of Courtenay is hosting its inaugural charity poker run on September 12, 2026 in support of the Comox Valley Hospital’s Pediatrics Department - a fun, family-oriented event for car enthusiasts, motorcyclists, classic car adventurers, or anyone who wants to come together to support local healthcare.
Fantastic prizes will be offered including fishing trips, a Traeger Grill, a $500 grocery gift card, airplane tours, tools, and more! There will be a 50/50 raffle and participants are encouraged to bring a new stuffed animal which will be donated to hospitalized children.
Registration for the event is at the Kiwanis Village Social Hall located at 635 Pidcock Avenue in Courtenay starting at 9:30am. You will have the opportunity to purchase one or more score cards during registration and you will be offered additional draws at the final location to better your poker hand. Click here to read the poker run rules.
Score cards cost $30 per poker hand. Each vehicle is required to purchase at least one hand. There is no limit on how many score cards you can buy - the more the better to help Kiwanis meet their goal to provide valuable medical equipment to enhance care for children in our community.
There will be special stops in Coombs, Fanny Bay, Royston and two stops north of Courtenay. You do not have to follow a specific route, however draw locations will be open according to a schedule so pre-planning your route is recommended . Participants are encouraged to join the post-run ceremonies and celebration at Kitty Coleman Woodland Gardens where there will be food trucks and live radio coverage. Non-participants are welcome with a $5 entrance fee.
