What is Accountable?p Accountable is a young fintech/taxtech focused on helping the self-employed automate their accounting and taxes with a simple mobile and web app. We are 80+ people spread across offices in Berlin and Brussels, as well as remote locations throughout Europe. Your first mission is to b absorb the manual testing bottleneck /b so the team can ship fast and safely. As that pressure eases, you'll b grow into automation, /b we'll actively help you get there. /pp This is a great fit if you have a strong testing instinct, care deeply about quality, and want to level up your technical skills in a supportive team. /p What you'll do pb Phase 1 Manual exploratory (your starting focus) /b /pp→ Execute and own test passes for new features across web (React) and mobile (iOS Android) before release /pp→ Run exploratory testing on critical flows, invoice creation, VAT return submission (BE DE), bank connection, plan upgrades, to catch the bugs scripted tests miss /pp→ Write clear, reproducible bug reports and well-structured test cases /pp→ Help triage incoming bugs and verify fixes before they ship /pp→ Partner with the squads to test features hands-on and give fast feedback /p pb Phase 2 Growing into automation (as the bottleneck clears) /b /pp→ Start converting your most-repeated manual checks into automated tests (Playwright on web, Maestro on mobile), with mentoring from our automation QA /pp→ Contribute to API-level checks (e.g. Postman, Supertest)



/pp→ Learn to read PRs for test coverage and grow toward owning parts of the automated suite /pp A concrete example of the journey: in Phase 1 you manually check that creating an invoice produces the correct VAT amount. In Phase 2, you turn that exact check into a Playwright test that runs automatically on every release so no one has to click through it by hand again. /p What we need ulli1–3 years of QA experience in a software product (SaaS or fintech a plus), b or /b strong hands-on testing experience with a clear hunger to grow /lili A real testing mindset: you think about edge cases, you try to break things, you don't just follow a script /lili Comfortable testing across web and mobile (iOS Android) /lili Clear written communication, your bug reports save engineers time /lili Correctness mindset: you understand why a wrong VAT amount is a compliance problem, not just a small bug /lili Curiosity and willingness to learn automation, you don't need to write tests today, but you want to learn /lili CET ± 2 hours timezone overlap /li /ul Nice to have ulli Any exposure to test automation tools (Playwright, Cypress, Maestro, Appium, Selenium…), even a personal project counts /lili Basic API testing (Postman or similar) /lili A little scripting (JavaScript / Node.js, even beginner level) /lili Belgian VAT / Intervat or German tax / Elster knowledge /lili Open banking / PSD2 or e-invoicing (Peppol) familiarity /lili Dutch or German language skills /li /ul What's different about this role p We're not hiring "manual testing hours."
