Overview In this role you will help design advanced silicon photonics IC-based products, driving from concept through fabrication, testing, and analysis. You join a multidisciplinary team that delivers innovative photonic devices and large-scale circuits. You will validate photonic ICs in optical engines and collaborate with cross‐functional groups to meet system requirements. Responsibilities Design complex photonic devices and interconnects and systems‐on‐chip from concept to fabrication, testing, and analysis
Validate photonic ICs in optical engines and coordinate with mixed‐signal IC, substrate, packaging, and simulation teams
Own Tx and/or Rx PIC designs and communicate performance and PIC requirements to cross‐functional teams
Evaluate optical link budgets, RFEO performance,
and power consumption against requirements
Define test requirements and collaborate to prepare comprehensive test plans
Generate PIC performance documents to track performance across R&D; and production variants
Explore and implement new design approaches for device‐ and system‐level optimization
Qualifications MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Photonics, or Applied Physics
Hands‐on experience in silicon photonic device design, characterization, and modeling
Proficient with optical and RF simulation tools xysqume (Lumerical, HFSS, ADS) and photonic circuit design
Proficient in Python or C/C++ with solid understanding of optics and electromagnetics
2+ years of experience in silicon photonics design, testing, and characterization
