-- Job Description Within the Project Management, Methods, and Management Processes function of the Merchant Ships Division, Warranty Coordination is responsible for overseeing the warranty management process, ensuring uniformity of conduct, timely resolution of interventions, and upstream feedback to activate corrective actions also on future newbuilds.
In this context, the role of the Guarantee Specialist is to: support and coordinate the activities of all company functions involved in the warranty management process; personally manage activities related to specific issues, e.g., cross-cutting warranty topics applicable to multiple ships and/or Clients; ensure continuous improvement of the warranty process.
Activities The resource, inserted in the Warranty Coordination unit within Project Quality, Commissioning and Warranty of the Merchant Ships Division, will be involved in the following activities: participate in the analysis and identification of corrective actions necessary to resolve problems, involving, as needed, the Design, Purchasing, Quality, PM Team, Legal Department, and interested suppliers; personally manage specific issues, from problem analysis to programming and supervising on-board interventions,
through the development of an action plan agreed with the Client; ensure the implementation of preventive actions during design, material procurement, production, to avoid the repetition of recurring or potentially recurring warranty problems on future newbuilds; monitor process performance and costs related to warranty activities; produce dedicated internal reports; ensure correct recording and archiving of information within the warranty management IT system.
Requirements A degree in naval engineering or mechanical engineering or a Technical Institute Diploma (preferably Nautical Engineer or Shipbuilder) is required.
3-5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in project-based companies and the naval sector, is welcome.
The acquired skill set will include: Ability to plan and organize activities; Interpersonal skills to interface with internal and external clients and suppliers; Technical knowledge, self-learning ability; Knowledge of merchant ship on-board systems is a preferential title; A good level of written and spoken English and a basic level of computer skills (Microsoft Office) are required; Strong self-management skills, proactivity, and determination in identifying and solving problems, cost awareness, ability to work under pressure, flexibility, and adaptability are required.
