Project Health, Safety & Environment Manager – Nestlé Purina

Position in Assago, Lombardy, Italy. Full‑time site role supporting the launch of a new manufacturing site with modern, highly automated production systems.

Position Snapshot

- Experience in complex construction sites and in HSE management for multi‑contractor environments
- Ability to translate policies and standards into operational plans
- Specific training in Health & Safety or relevant certifications
- Fluency in Italian and English required

Key Responsibilities

Ensure excellence in safety, health and environmental sustainability during construction. Develop, communicate and implement the Project HSE Management Plan. Monitor site standards, recognize good performance and address poor performance. Communicate with local authorities, communities and Nestlé management.

Responsibilities include:

- Ensure compliance with local HSE legislation and Nestlé HSE standards; integrate HSE into project planning, design, and contractor management.
- Develop and maintain the site HSE Management Plan, including risk management procedures, worker orientation, training, risk assessment, method statements, lifting plans, permit to work, and emergency planning.
- Maintain a safe and healthy site: secure access, safe egress, proper signage,



risk mitigation, hygiene conditions, and emergency medical response.
- Implement site risk management procedures and specific safe working practices for high‑frequency and high‑hazard tasks.
- Train and coach managers and team leaders on risk management, legislation and duties; provide personal coaching and support to the Site Management Team.
- Coordinate internal and external resources to deliver SHE support such as exposure monitoring, health promotion, health surveillance and training.
- Conduct regular audits and reviews to assess compliance, use results to drive improvement, and promote effective communication of successes and learnings.
- Engage with stakeholders, including contractor representatives, trade unions, local regulators, local communities and NGOs, to build positive relationships on HSE topics.

- Ownership of HSE and ability to drive change through personal leadership.
- Experience leading HSE in a multi‑contractor environment and on significant construction sites.
- Translating policies and standards into practical action plans.
- Coaching individuals and teams in different environments.
- Held one or more line (or project) management positions.
- Effective communication across organisational levels.
