In this role you will analyze and interpret political-domain information across the NSD-S geographic area to support the hub’s knowledge requirements. You will work within the PMESII framework to shape horizon-scanning and strategic awareness for NATO partners. Collaborating with knowledge managers, you translate insights into actionable products for senior leadership. This position offers exposure to cross-agency coordination and multinational security planning at operational-to-strategic levels.
Identify and evaluate geopolitical subjects and regional/international agreements relating to Africa and the Middle East
Formulate strategies for African Union and Middle East programs aligned with NATO directives
Assess mechanisms to influence regional organizations and identify cooperation opportunities
Develop and evaluate international cooperation initiatives in governmental and non-governmental forums
Liaise with government officials, research agencies, media, and political parties on foreign issues
Provide analyses on how Africa and the Middle East affect foreign policy behavior and NATO engagement
Collaborate with Senior Knowledge Manager to prioritize knowledge requirements and deliverables
Monitor geopolitical dynamics to anticipate security trends within NSD-S space
Produce final analytic products for fusion and approval by Knowledge Management leadership
Interrelate with IS/IMS, ACO, ACT leaders and potentially non-NATO SMEs
University Degree in political science, international relations, or related discipline and 2 years of relevant experience, or Higher Secondary education with 4 years post-related experience
Demonstrated experience in political science and civics, including rights and duties of citizens
Experience in intelligence-related activities on cross-border issues (e.g., asymmetric warfare, terrorism, proliferation, cyber threats)
Extensive background with regional/international organizations (governmental or NGO) connected to Africa and the Middle East
English proficiency at Professional level (Listening, Speaking, Reading, Writing) per NATO standards (SLP 3333)
Desirable: postgraduate education or NATO staff college; prior international experience (UN, NATO, EU); NATO OSINT and Intelligence Analyst training; CIMIC course
