In this role you will lead the design and validation of silicon photonics IC-based devices and interconnects, spanning design to fabrication and testing. You'll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver large-scale photonics circuits that meet system requirements. You will influence device-level and system-level optimization, contributing to Nokia's leadership in silicon photonics-enabled connectivity. This is a hands-on, cross-functional role with a strong emphasis on impact and innovation. You will help shape next-generation photonic engines within a collaborative, growth-focused culture.

Design and validate photonic ICs for optical engines, interfacing with mixed-signal IC, substrate, packaging, and simulations teams

Own PDK components improvements and development

Own Tx and/or Rx PIC designs and communicate performance and PIC requirements to cross-functional teams

Evaluate optical link budgets,



RFEO performance and power consumption, and verify against requirements

Define test requirements and collaborate with test teams to prepare comprehensive test plans

Generate PIC performance documents to track performance across R&D; and production variants

Evaluate new design approaches and drive device- and system-level optimization

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure co-designed and co-optimized photonics chips meet system requirements

MS in Electrical Engineering, Photonics, or Applied Physics; xlwpduy PhD is a plus

Hands-on experience in silicon photonic device design, characterization, and modeling

Proficient with optical and RF simulation tools (e.g., Lumerical, HFSS, ADS) and photonic circuit design

Proficient in Python with solid understanding of optics and electromagnetics

3+ years of experience in silicon photonics design, testing, and characterization
