The Business Development Director is responsible for driving profitable revenue growth by selling materials testing, failure analysis, metallurgical evaluation, mechanical testing, corrosion testing, and related laboratory services to major oil and gas companies. This role develops strategic relationships with upstream, midstream, downstream, LNG, and energy infrastructure customers, positioning the company as a trusted technical partner for materials qualification, asset integrity, product certification, and lifecycle testing.
The successful candidate will possess a strong understanding of the oil and gas industry, experience selling technical services, and a proven ability to win enterprise-level contracts with major operators, EPC firms, OEMs, and equipment manufacturers.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute a strategic sales plan to achieve annual revenue, margin, and growth objectives.
Identify, qualify, and pursue new business opportunities with major oil and gas companies, including supermajors, national oil companies (NOCs), and independent operators.
Build executive-level relationships with engineering, procurement, quality, reliability, integrity, and materials engineering stakeholders.
Promote a comprehensive portfolio of laboratory services including:
Mechanical testing
Metallurgical analysis
Corrosion testing
Failure analysis
Fracture mechanics
Fatigue testing
Non-Destructive Testing (NDT)
Chemical analysis
Product qualification and certification
Develop account strategies for key customers while expanding opportunities across multiple business units and geographic regions.
Lead contract negotiations, commercial proposals, and long‑term service agreements.
Collaborate with laboratory operations and technical experts to develop customer‑specific testing programs and solutions.
Maintain an active pipeline using CRM tools with accurate forecasting and opportunity management.
Represent the company at industry conferences, technical symposiums,
and customer events.
Monitor market trends, competitive activity, emerging technologies, and regulatory developments affecting the energy sector.
Work closely with marketing to develop targeted campaigns and value propositions for oil and gas markets.
Coordinate with global laboratories to deliver multi‑site and international testing solutions.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Metallurgy, Chemistry, Business, or a related discipline. MBA preferred.
15+ years of business development or technical sales experience within materials testing, inspection, certification (TIC), engineering services, or industrial laboratory services.
Demonstrated success selling into major oil and gas organizations.
Strong understanding of metals, corrosion, welding, materials performance, and asset integrity programs.
Experience managing complex sales cycles valued from $250,000 to multi‑million‑dollar enterprise agreements.
Excellent negotiation, presentation, and executive relationship management skills.
Willingness to travel approximately 40-60%.
