Are you a passionate Java developer looking to modernize critical systems and make a real impact? Join our growing hub in Spain at Allianz Technology and help us drive innovative solutions for the KLS (Kollektivleben System), our end-to-end industry solution for the Swiss Group Life business (BVG). In this role, you will be a senior Java engineer who thinks end-to-end — bridging stable core systems with modern cloud-native innovation, collaborating with global colleagues, and shaping the direction and culture of a new team.

What you'll do

- Analyze and assess Java-based software development tasks and complex requirements according to project specifications, contributing to the modernization of current systems and gateways.
- Develop and implement software requirements and interfaces within the KLS environment using Java 12 to 21 (occasionally older Java versions), and JBoss / Spring Boot.
- Drive the transition of legacy Java systems to modern cloud services and develop new insurance products for the B2B/B2C sectors, leveraging the latest features of the Java ecosystem.
- Optimize platform processes through automation and AI-driven solutions, actively using AI tools to boost your own productivity and foster innovation within the team.
- Implement thorough unit tests using JUnit and write clean, disciplined Java code that adheres to high application standards and agile practices.
- Collaborate closely with business teams to co-create solutions that directly address organizational needs, working alongside Solution Designers and Product Owners in a two-week agile sprint framework.

What you'll bring

- Willingness to develop knowledge about the Allianz Suisse-specific group life model and its foundation; experience in group life insurance business is a plus.
- Around 5 years of professional experience in Java development, software design, and technical implementation with excellent proficiency in Java 12 to 21 (occasionally older Java versions), Spring Boot/JBoss, REST APIs, and unit testing frameworks (JUnit).
- Practical experience or strong familiarity with modern technologies such as Kafka, Camunda, or Azure cloud services are strong pluses.




- Daily proficiency with Java developer tools including Eclipse/IntelliJ, JIRA, DBeaver, and Github. General familiarity with DevOps practices, such as CI/CD pipelines (Maven, Jenkins), Git workflows, and containerization using Docker.
- Fluent English, written and spoken, is a must, along with comfort working in fully English-speaking environments; a highly motivated, independent problem-solver and proactive communicator who embraces collaboration across international teams.
- Familiarity with AI and machine learning tools and a genuine interest in applying them to optimize Java development workflows and business processes.
