Blue Oak Consulting

Milano

We are looking for a Junior Prompt Engineer to support our work with a prominent Italian financial services group. This role focuses on the practical application of large language models to assist in the analysis of portfolio economics and capital allocation decisions.

About Blue Oak

Consulting

Blue Oak Consulting provides independent advisory on pricing, portfolio economics, capital allocation, and acquisition assumptions. We are not a traditional consulting firm focused on broad transformation programs or high level strategy decks. Instead, we interrogate specific commercial decisions where the financial stakes are high and the existing narrative is not sufficient.

Our team looks past corporate language and P&L; complexity to identify where value is leaking or capital is trapped. We work across sectors like software, manufacturing, and healthcare to test whether the assumptions behind a growth plan or an acquisition actually hold under pressure. We are a small, principal led firm where the people who do the work are the ones accountable for the results.

We do not take transaction contingent fees, which allows us to be completely honest about whether the economics of a decision make sense. Our goal is to provide clarity through financial discipline and a healthy amount of skepticism. We stay through the execution phase because decisions that look sound in theory often fail when they meet real world friction.

The Role

This is a full time, permanent position that is fully remote. You will work as part of a lean team to build and refine the prompts that our analysts use to parse through massive amounts of financial data and corporate documentation. Because we work with a prominent Italian financial services group, you will be helping us extract meaningful insights from complex regulatory and commercial reports.

The focus here is not on flashy tech, but on accuracy and repeatability.

You will be expected to look at the output of a model, spot where it is being lazy or incorrect, and adjust your approach until the result is something a financial professional can actually use. You will have regular contact with the firm principals and will see how your work directly influences the advice we give to our clients.

What You Will Be

Doing

Writing and testing prompts to extract specific financial metrics from unstructured text and data sets.

Reviewing model outputs for accuracy, bias, or logical errors that could compromise a financial analysis.

Documenting which prompt structures produce the most reliable results for specific types of financial inquiries.

Collaborating with senior consultants to translate their skepticism and questions into technical instructions for AI tools.

Assisting in the cleanup and preparation of data sets to ensure the models have the best possible context for their tasks.

Monitoring the consistency of model performance over time and suggesting adjustments when the logic starts to drift.

Participating in internal reviews where we stress test the assumptions generated by our digital tools.

Supporting the broader team in daily tasks related to the Italian financial services project.

What You

Bring A recent degree in finance, economics, computer science, or a related field that requires logical thinking.

A high degree of comfort with technology and a genuine interest in how large language models function under the hood.

Excellent written communication skills,

with a focus on being precise and clear.

A naturally skeptical mindset and an eye for detail (you are the type of person who notices when a number in a table does not match the text).

The ability to work independently in a remote environment while staying connected with the team through digital channels.

Basic familiarity with spreadsheet software like Excel and a willingness to learn how to structure data for analysis.

Fluency in English is required, and any knowledge of Italian is helpful given our current project focus, though not mandatory.

A practical approach to problem solving that prioritizes working results over theoretical perfection.

What We

Offer A fully remote working arrangement that allows you to work from your preferred location.

Direct mentorship from experienced principals who have spent years in high stakes financial advisory.

Competitive pay that is attractive for an entry level position in the current market.

The chance to work on high level commercial decisions rather than administrative or repetitive tasks.

Training on how to apply emerging technology to traditional financial disciplines.

A professional environment free from corporate bureaucracy and excessive jargon.

Tempo pieno, permanent employment with a stable and growing independent firm.

At Blue Oak

Consulting, we value the ability to be wrong and the discipline to find out why. We do not hide behind complex models or vague advice. Our clients come to us because they want the truth about their economics, even when it is uncomfortable.

As a Junior Prompt Engineer, you will be a vital part of the process that uncovers that truth, ensuring that the tools we use are as rigorous and honest as the people who operate them. We expect our team to be as invested in the outcome as our clients are, providing clarity where others offer only complexity.
