This internship provides an opportunity to apply rigorous data analysis techniques to complex financial problems within a remote team environment. You will support our firm as we assist a prominent Italian financial services group with critical evaluations of their commercial assumptions and portfolio performance.
About Blue Oak
Consulting
Blue Oak Consulting provides independent advisory on pricing, portfolio economics, capital allocation, and acquisition assumptions. We are not a traditional consulting firm focused on broad transformation programs or high level strategy decks. Instead, we interrogate specific commercial decisions where the financial stakes are high and the existing narrative is not sufficient.
Our team looks past corporate language and P&L; complexity to identify where value is leaking or capital is trapped. We work across sectors like software, manufacturing, and healthcare to test whether the assumptions behind a growth plan or an acquisition actually hold under pressure. We are a small, principal led firm where the people who do the work are the ones accountable for the results.
We do not take transaction contingent fees, which allows us to be completely honest about whether the economics of a decision make sense. Our goal is to provide clarity through financial discipline and a healthy amount of skepticism. We stay through the execution phase because decisions that look sound in theory often fail when they meet real world friction.
The Role
As a Data Analytics Intern, you will work directly with our principals to analyze raw data sets and test the validity of commercial models. This is a fully remote position that requires a high degree of self discipline and a genuine interest in finding the truth behind the numbers. You will spend your time cleaning data, looking for patterns, and helping us build a clear picture of how our client's decisions affect their bottom line.
We do not value flashy presentations: we value accuracy and the ability to explain why a number is what it is. The work is demanding and technical, but it provides a direct view into the mechanics of high level financial decision making.

Preparing clear tables and charts that highlight specific economic risks or opportunities.

Strong written and verbal communication skills in English to document findings clearly.
The ability to work independently in a remote setting while staying aligned with team goals.
Prior experience with data visualization tools or basic programming languages like SQL is helpful but not required.
A disciplined approach to checking your own work and ensuring technical accuracy before submission.

At Blue Oak
Consulting, we believe that the best advice comes from a thorough understanding of the data. We do not hide behind vague promises or complex jargon: we let the numbers speak for themselves. This internship is designed for someone who wants to learn how to bridge the gap between financial theory and the friction of the real world.
By the end of this program, you will have gained practical experience in how to interrogate a business case and provide the kind of clarity that leads to better capital allocation and more sustainable growth. Our work depends on the integrity of our analysis, and we look for people who take that responsibility seriously.
