Senior Process Scale-Up & Commissioning Engineer

As Senior Process Scale-Up & Commissioning Engineer, in close collaboration with the Process Engineering Group, the candidate will arrange the pilot plant experimental campaigns targeting the smooth scale-up of the technology, and will define the commissioning, start-up and performance test of the proprietary equipment and commercial plant.

The Senior Process Scale-Up & Commissioning Engineer will be also supporting the Operations team in maintaining the pilot plant fully operational.

Key Responsibilities

- Design and execution of the experimental campaigns: perform data acquisition and analysis, interpret experimental data, assess system performance, identify operational bottlenecks, limitations, and critical parameters, and verify equipment and instrumentation functionality;
- Lead Commissioning & Start-Up Operations: Oversee operational readiness, start-up, and ramp-up phases for new plants and proprietary equipment; troubleshoot complex process, instrumentation, and control system issues while collaborating with EPC contractors, vendors, and clients to optimize performance and capture lessons learned for future designs.
- Technical ownership of our pilot plant asset supporting Operations team: ensure safe, continuous, and reliable functioning of the facility, manage the procurement of spare parts, equipment, and materials required for smooth day-to-day operation, support pilot plant operation for maintenance and upgrades, definition and preparation of the operating procedures of the pilot plant;




- Provide data to and support the Process Engineering group engaged in developing and delivering the licensor’s PDP;
- Participation to project meetings and safety risk assessment carrying the practical experience built on pilot plant;
- Continuously develop and improve the process in terms of equipment reliability, material and components selection, operability, constructability, the most suitable instrumentation;
- Mentor and support junior colleagues during commissioning, start-up, and performance testing activities, promoting their technical and professional development
- Foster constructive and goal-oriented collaboration within the technical group (Engineering, Operation, R&D;), promoting knowledge exchange, alignment on priorities, and a shared commitment to project success. Actively contributes to the consolidation of a high-performing technical team by encouraging a proactive and data-driven problem-solving mindset.

Main Requirements:

- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Chemistry, or a related field;
- At least 5-8 years of experience in pilot plant management or process engineering;
- Strong hands-on experience in chemical process unit operations (e.g., reaction, separation, heat transfer, automation, and solids handling);
- Ability to interpret experimental data and optimize process conditions;
- Systematic approach to pilot plant testing;
- Good proficiency in English, both written and spoken.

Location : Albese con Cassano (CO), Chiasso (CH) Salary range: €60.000 - €80.000
