Crìa Technologies is a deep-tech startup developing breakthrough high-vacuum thermal insulation solutions for temperature-controlled logistics (+8 °C to −196 °C), serving emerging research and biopharma (cell and gene therapy, IVF, humanitarian logistics).
We are looking for a Senior Scientist / Laboratory Manager to lead the daily operations of our Naples laboratory and drive the experimental development of our vacuum-insulated and cryogenic systems. This is a hands‐on role: we expect you to be technically active while taking ownership of lab organization and the coordination of our junior team.
Responsibilities
Technical & experimental
Co‐Lead the design, prototyping, assembly, and testing of high‐vacuum, MLI, and cryogenic systems, from concept through experimental validation.
Co‐define and execute test campaigns (thermal performance, structural integrity, outgassing, leak detection) and ensure rigorous, reproducible data collection and analysis.
Hands‐on involvement in mechanical fabrication and assembly of prototypes; specify and oversee machining and welding work,
whether in-house or with external partners/suppliers.
Set up, calibrate, and maintain electronic instrumentation and data‐acquisition systems.
Troubleshoot system and instrumentation failures and drive continuous improvement of test methods and setups.
Management & organization
Coordinate and mentor junior scientists: assign tasks, review experimental work, and support their technical growth.
Plan and prioritize lab activities against the company's R&D; roadmap and project deadlines.
Manage lab operations: equipment maintenance, procurement of components and consumables, inventory, supplier relationships, and budget input.
Establish and enforce laboratory safety, quality, and documentation standards (test protocols, logs, technical reports).
Report progress and results directly to the founders and senior scientists, and contribute to technical decision‐making and IP development.
