We are looking for up to two Mid-level to Senior Environmental Scientists with proven expertise in the sustainable management of agri‑food systems and greenhouse gas (GHG) fluxes, including GHG accounting and reporting for agricultural practices. The successful candidates will have a strong track record in assessing the impacts of agricultural practices on agri‑food systems, evaluating their effects on GHG emissions and removals, and quantifying their contribution to climate change mitigation under different climate and land‑use scenarios. /p h3ABOUT US /h3 pCMCC Foundation is a cross‑cutting scientific research centre on climate change and its interactions with the environment, society, the world of business, and policymakers. where individuals from all backgrounds can thrive and succeed. /p h3ROLE /h3 pThe Researcher specialising in the sustainable management of agri‑food systems and GHG fluxes will conduct research on the impacts of agricultural practices on greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and removals. The role includes supporting the development and application of GHG accounting and reporting methodologies, as well as comparing bottom‑up estimates with top‑down approaches. The successful candidate will contribute to scientific analyses, model development, data integration, and the preparation of technical reports and scientific publications within national and international research projects. /p h3RESPONSIBILITIES /h3 ul liConducting quantitative assessments of the impacts of agricultural management practices on GHG emissions, carbon sequestration, and other environmental indicators. /li liDeveloping and applying GHG accounting and reporting methodologies in line with internationally recognised frameworks such as the IPCC Guidelines. /li liAnalysing agricultural, environmental, and climate datasets to assess mitigation potential under different management and climate scenarios. /li liSupporting the development and application of models and decision‑support tools for evaluating sustainable agricultural practices. /li liContributing to the design and implementation of research activities within national and European research and innovation projects. /li liPreparing scientific publications, technical reports, project deliverables, and policy briefs. /li liCollaborating with multidisciplinary and international research teams and engaging with relevant stakeholders.
/li liSupporting the preparation of research proposals and contributing to the acquisition of competitive research funding. /li /ul h3REQUIREMENTS /h3 ul liPhD in Agricultural Sciences, Environmental Sciences, or a related field. /li liAt least 15 years of professional experience in research on GHG fluxes, GHG accounting, or climate change mitigation in the agri‑food sector. /li liExcellent command of written and spoken English. /li liStrong analytical skills and attention to detail. /li /ul h3DURATION, COMPENSATION BENEFITS /h3 ul liThis vacancy will be advertised both internally and externally. /li liThe successful candidate(s) will be based at the CMCC office in Viterbo. /li liThe position is offered under a Coordinated and Continuous Collaboration contract (Co.co.co.), starting in September 2026 for an initial duration of four months, with the possibility of renewal. /li liThe gross annual salary for this position ranges from €26,000 to €45,000. The salary offered will be determined based on relevant experience, seniority, and technical expertise, in accordance with objective and gender‑neutral criteria. /li liFlexible working hours, in accordance with the organisation's internal policies. /li liSupport with immigration procedures, if required. /li /ul h3PROTECTED CATEGORY /h3 pBelonging to legally protected categories (ex L. 68/99) will constitute a preferential condition.
