Senior Product Manager in Healthcare
Full-time · Milan · Italian required
The role
Vermed is an AI-native healthcare startup building software products for healthcare organisations in Italy. We use the latest advances in AI throughout our products, software-development workflow, and business processes, helping a focused team build and support multiple products. Some of our products already support services accessible to millions of people across Italy. Our goal is to improve health outcomes and reduce the administrative burden on healthcare professionals.
English is Vermed's company working language. Fluent Italian is required for this position and to work with Italian healthcare organisations.
We are looking for a Senior Product Manager to lead product direction for a complex new healthcare product intended to work across multiple Italian regions. Its first version is still in active development, so this is an opportunity to shape the product while its core workflows, capabilities, and operating model are being defined.
You will own product decisions: understanding the problems that matter, setting direction, deciding what to prioritise, and ensuring that what we build creates measurable value for healthcare professionals, organisations, and citizens.
The product must work across regional contexts. You will turn differences in healthcare organisations, workflows, priorities, and institutional constraints into a coherent and reusable product direction.
What you'll do
- Own product strategy, roadmap, prioritisation, and measurable outcomes for the product.
- Work closely with healthcare stakeholders in different Italian regions to understand needs, constraints, and operating models.
- Conduct discovery with clinicians, operators, hospital management, regional stakeholders, customers, and internal teams.
- Translate healthcare workflows, user needs, institutional constraints, and commercial context into clear product decisions and requirements.
- Guide the product from discovery and validation through implementation, rollout, adoption, and ongoing improvement.
- Work closely with engineering, design, integration, commercial, regulatory, and delivery colleagues.
- Define how success will be measured and use qualitative and quantitative evidence to make prioritisation decisions.
- Manage stakeholder expectations across complex healthcare implementation and public-sector decision cycles.
- Shape responsible AI- and LLM-enabled experiences, including quality evaluation, human oversight, privacy, and failure handling.
- Communicate product direction and trade-offs clearly in both Italian and English.
What we're looking for
- Approximately five or more years in product roles, with meaningful end-to-end product ownership.
- Several years of experience in digital healthcare, healthcare software, or an adjacent healthcare-technology environment.
- A track record of taking a complex software product from discovery through launch, adoption, and measurable improvement.
- Strong understanding of Italian healthcare organisations and how product decisions are made and implemented within them.
- Experience working with Italian regions, hospitals, IRCCS, ASL/USL, or technology suppliers serving them.
- Excellent product discovery, prioritisation, written communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
- The ability to work effectively with technical teams and with clinical, operational, commercial, and institutional stakeholders.
- Based in Milan or the Milan metropolitan area and available for regular in-person workshops and customer meetings.
- Fluent Italian and professional English. English is Vermed's company working language.
Particularly relevant backgrounds
- A healthcare software vendor or system integrator serving Italian regions or hospitals.
- Products involving complex healthcare workflows, territorial care, healthcare documentation, operational coordination, or research operations.
- Healthcare interoperability standards, public procurement, GDPR, MDR, or ACN constraints.
- LLM-enabled products, decision support, or safety-sensitive automation.
Working model
This is a full-time, Milan-based position with a hybrid work from home / office working model. The role includes regular, pre-planned in-person workshops in Milan and meetings with healthcare customers and partners in different Italian regions.
