We foster excellence in both fundamental and applied research, spanning fields such as neuroscience and cognition, humanoid technologies and robotics, artificial intelligence, nanotechnology, and material sciences, offering a truly interdisciplinary scientific experience. Our approach integrates cutting-edge tools and technology, empowering researchers to push the limits of knowledge and innovation. With us, your curiosity will know no bounds. We are dedicated to providing equal employment opportunities and fostering diversity in all its forms, creating an inclusive environment. We value the unique experiences, knowledge, backgrounds, cultures, and perspectives of our people. By embracing diversity, we believe science can achieve its fullest potential. **THE ROLE** You will be working in a multicultural and multi-disciplinary group, where junior and senior scientists collaborate, each with their expertise, to carry out a scientific activity with a shared research goal. The “_Nanochemistry”_ Research Unit, coordinated by Prof. Liberato Manna, focuses, among other objectives, on the synthesis of colloidal semiconductor nanocrystals (also known as Quantum Dots) and nano-heterostructures of strategic interest in the infrared (IR) spectral region. These nanostructures, along with their ligand shells, are characterized using advanced techniques such as X-ray diffraction (XRD),
X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Raman spectroscopy, and time-resolved optical analyses. Computational modeling, integrated with experimental characterization, is also employed to gain deeper insights into these systems. Within the research team, your main responsibilities will be: - Supervising and mentoring junior members of the team
- Writing research articles as well as assisting in generating preliminary data and figures for grant proposals
- Writing patents and focusing on technology transfer **ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS**
- PhD in Chemistry, Material Sciences or similar disciplines
- Extensive experience in colloidal synthesis of nanocrystals
- Good publication record
- Strong command of spoken and written English
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a highly interdisciplinary environment **ADDITIONAL SKILLS**
- Previous research in semiconductor nanocrystals synthesis and characterization
- Previous research in colloidal heterostructures synthesis and characterization **COMPENSATION PACKAGE**
- Private health care coverage
- Flexible working time
- Wide range of staff discounts This open position is financed by Ministero dell’Università e della Ricerca (MUR) nell’ambito del “Bandro FIS - Fondo Italiano per la Scienza - PROCEDURA COMPETITIVA PER LO SVILUPPO DELLE ATTIVITÀ DI RICERCA FONDAMENTALE, A VALERE SUL FONDO ITALIANO PER LA SCIENZA 2022 - 2023 (BANDO FIS 2)” MACROSETTORE - PE - PHYSICAL SCIENCES AND ENGINEERING, within the “InAs-based RoHS compliant Infrared emitting quantum Dots for optoElectronics” - Acronym: IRIDE - Grant Agreement number: FIS-2023-03302 - CUP: J53C25000570001
