Country Manager – Italy
Wise is a global technology company that is building the best way to move and manage the world’s money. We are looking for an executive to lead market expansion and product localisation in Italy from Settimo Milanese, LOM, IT.
Responsibilities
- Own the performance of Wise’s local team and operations, including key metrics, hiring and talent development, and operational efficiency.
- Define and execute the market expansion strategy, product localisation initiatives and go‑to‑market plans.
- Manage regulatory licensing and authorisation, working with central banking and expansion teams, to secure licences, registrations and ongoing compliance.
- Maintain strong governance and relationships with local regulators, government bodies and industry stakeholders.
- Lead commercial and partnership discussions with financial and non‑financial institutions to increase speed, reduce costs and improve transaction visibility.
- Drive operational readiness, incident management and risk mitigation, ensuring business continuity and regulatory compliance.




- Represent Wise in Italy, supporting public relations, government relations and product marketing to raise brand awareness and position Wise as a key industry player.

Qualifications
- Business‑fluent in Italian and English.
- Significant experience leading local entity operations and navigating compliance for financial services.
- Strong expertise in Italian regulatory and licensing frameworks, anti‑money‑laundering controls and tax, law‑enforcement and consumer‑protection requirements.
- Excellent relationship‑building skills with regulators, banks, central banks, global teams and local ecosystems.
- Proven track record delivering cross‑functional initiatives in a fast‑moving environment.
- Entrepreneurial mindset, willingness to get hands‑dirty and to drive outcomes.
- Analytical approach to problem solving, root‑cause analysis and quantitative rigour.
