Il ruolo prevede la gestione di progetti nazionali e internazionali nei sistemi di comunicazione satellitare, la progettazione di sistemi multi-orbita e multi-frequenza e la partecipazione a standard internazionali.
La posizione è offerta in modalità ibrida presso Roma – Via Faustiniana, con possibilità di viaggi internazionali.

Within the Space Division , we are looking for a Satellite Communication Engineer for our office in Rome – Via Faustiniana .
The person will be responsible for: Managing and implementing national and international projects for Satellite Communication Systems at the Space Segment, Ground Segment and User Segment level within ASI, ESA, EUSPA and other funding bodies, as well as in projects conducted by Leonardo in collaboration with other entities.
Conducting activities in the design of advanced multi-orbit (at least LEO and GEO) and multi-frequency satellite communication systems such as, but not exclusively, the design of on-board payloads, regenerative and transparent, development of Link Budgets, Inter-Satellite Link, Quantum and QKD Communications,



Cloud and Data Storage solutions in space, orchestration and use of AI solutions.
Participating in or coordinating working groups within international industry committees and associations for the development of standards and regulations such as ETSI and ITU.
Education: Master's Degree in Electronic Engineering and/or Aerospace Engineering, with a specialization in Telecommunications.
Nice to Have: Master or PhD in Secure Satellite Communications, Quantum Communication or QKD.
Required Experience Level: Senior: at least 5 years of experience in the role.
Technical Skills and Knowledge: Ability to conduct activities and/or projects of Satellite Communication Systems and design of on-board payloads and uplink and downlink transmissions and LEO and GEO orbits.
Knowledge of multiple access techniques, error correction, Link Budget design, satellite signal propagation and cryptographic techniques, as well as knowledge of the application of Inter-Satellite Link for satellite communications.
Coordination of international teams within international projects.
Knowledge of the ECSS standard and the drafting of technical documentation compliant with it.
Experience in one or more of the following areas is a plus: design and use of Phased-Array antennas and beamforming techniques, knowledge of advanced user terminal design, knowledge and application of quantum cryptographic techniques, QKD, design and development of Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity solutions, Cloud system design or knowledge of ETSI 3GPP standards and the related NTN (Non-Terrestrial Network) approach.
