Responsibilities
Teaching commitment: Deliver Cardiac Surgery course credits (CFUs) within degree programs in Medicine and Surgery, Medicine and Surgery 'MedTech'. Also involved in the Specialization School in Cardiac Surgery and other specialization schools as needed.
Scientific commitment: Conduct clinical-translational research to improve cardiac surgery knowledge focusing on technological innovation and funded projects.
Reduce invasiveness of procedures, improve prosthetic devices,



and optimize long-term outcomes.
Conduct clinical studies to measure effectiveness, costs, and benefits of treatments at the national level with support from national and international research institutions.
Systematically analyze surgical outcomes and address ethical issues related to technological innovation.
Scientific commitment must also result in representing the cardiac surgeon in expert committees, national and international working groups, and publishing in high‐impact journals.
Clinical commitment: Diagnose, evaluate, treat, and follow up patients with structural heart and large vessel diseases to restore cardiac function and enhance quality of life and life expectancy. Emphasis on minimally invasive and hybrid approaches.
