Position Summary
We are seeking a Workday Payroll Integration Support & Development Engineer to join our internal HR IT team. This role bridges the gap between proactive system development and day-to-day operational support. You will be responsible for both enhancing and sustaining our critical global payroll integration landscape, ensuring seamless data transmission between Workday and our external payroll providers, CloudPay and ADP.
This position requires a strong technical background in Workday integration tools specifically PECI and global Payroll combined with an operational mindset to troubleshoot, support, and continuously optimize complex payroll data flows under tight processing deadlines.
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Workday Payroll Integration Engineer to join our Global HR Technology team. This role is responsible for designing, developing, enhancing, and supporting enterprise Workday Payroll integrations that enable accurate and timely payroll processing across multiple countries.
As a key member of the HR Technology organization, you will own the technical lifecycle of payroll integrations—from solution design and development through deployment, production support, monitoring, and continuous improvement. You will collaborate with Payroll, HRIS, Security, Enterprise Architecture, Infrastructure, and third-party payroll vendors to deliver secure, scalable, and reliable integration solutions.
The ideal candidate has extensive hands-on experience with Workday Integrations, particularly PECI, Cloud Pay EXPR, ADP payroll integrations, Workday Studio, and enterprise integration patterns. This position requires someone who enjoys solving complex integration challenges, leading technical initiatives, and driving best practices across the Workday platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, test, and deploy robust end-to-end Workday integrations supporting Global Payroll operations,
ensuring seamless data flow between Workday and external providers (CloudPay, ADP)
- Build and maintain PECI, CloudPay EXPR, EIB, Core Connectors, Workday Studio, and Document Transformation (XSLT) integrations.
- Proactively monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize existing payroll interfaces. Address complex data discrepancies, document technical fixes, and implement preventative measures to ensure zero downtime during payroll cycles
- Analyze payroll integration requirements and recommend scalable technical solutions.
- Troubleshoot production issues and perform root cause analysis.
- Monitor integration health, resolve failures, and ensure timely payroll processing.
- Develop calculated fields, custom reports, and RaaS APIs as needed.
- Partner closely with internal HRIS analysts, global payroll functional teams, and third-party vendors to translate complex business payroll requirements into highly efficient technical solution.
- Participate in Workday bi-annual release testing and regression testing.
- Create and maintain technical design documents and operational runbooks.
- Follow enterprise security, governance, and integration best practices.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum of 5–7 years of hands-on experience developing Workday integrations, with a deep technical focus on Workday Payroll integrations.
- Experience supporting global payroll integrations
- Proven, demonstrable experience building and troubleshooting PECI interfaces, using EXPR, Workday Studio, Advanced Reports, Calculated Fields, and XSLT/XML transformations.
- Prior experience implementing or sustaining complex payroll integrations with CloudPay and/or ADP (Global View or Streamline).
- Strong ability to debug complex data transformation issues, understand global payroll sequencing/effective dating, and manage high-volume transactional data.
- Experience with Git or other version control systems
- Experience with OAuth 2.0, REST APIs, JSON, XML, and SFTP
- Excellent communication skills to bridge the gap between technical architecture and functional payroll requirements.
