TITLE: Plant Manager
SUMMARY : Results-oriented plant manager with at least 8-10 years of leadership experience in high-volume tile/ceramic manufacturing plants. Recognized for driving manufacturing excellence, maximizing OEE, and implementing rigorous continuous improvement initiatives.
Experienced in comprehensive P&L; management, budget optimization, and compliance with OSHA, EPA, and U.S. labor laws. Collaborative leader, skilled at fostering a strong safety culture and aligning site operations with strategic corporate objectives.
DUTIES include but are not limited to:
- Production Planning: Define kiln and line schedules to meet commercial deadlines.
- Quality Control: Ensure that tiles meet the geometric, tone, and mechanical strength standards required by the US market (e.g., ASTM/ANSI standards).
- Maintenance and OEE: Coordinate preventive and predictive maintenance teams to maximize overall equipment effectiveness.
- Site Safety: Ensure a safe work environment, reducing accidents to zero and managing US regulatory inspections.
- Cost Optimization:
Identify bottlenecks, reduce production waste (scrap rate), and optimize gas and electricity consumption.
- Reporting: Monitor key plant KPIs and periodically report the results to general management in Italy or the US holding company.
MUST HAVE:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Management, Materials) or equivalent solid experience in the ceramics industry.
- Experience: 8 to 10 years in manufacturing production management roles, preferably in the building materials or ceramics industry.
- Fluent English (C1/C2) is essential for managing local staff and US suppliers. Italian is often a strong plus for multinational groups headquartered in Italy.
- Ceramic processes: in-depth knowledge of spray drying, pressing, drying, glazing, firing (roller kilns), and material selection.
- US regulations: proficiency with OSHA (workplace safety) and EPA (environmental regulations/kiln emissions) regulations.
- Financial Understanding: ability to read financial reports and align operations with company’s OpEx and CapEx policies;
- Leadership and American culture: Ability to motivate and lead an American workforce, adapting management style to the local work culture.
