Remote within the European Union | Freelance / Tempo parziale / Small-Batch Production
Sarah Gauci Jewelry is looking for experienced jewellery makers to collaborate with on the physical production of our bridal jewellery collections.
I am the designer behind the brand, and I am looking for skilled hands-on makers who can take my designs, references and approved samples and translate them into beautifully constructed, professionally finished jewellery.
This is not a jewellery design or CAD role. I am specifically looking for people who enjoy making, assembling and problem-solving at the workbench.
Projects may include
- Developing a first sample or prototype from my design.
- Understanding and proposing the most appropriate construction method and findings.
- Producing jewellery from an approved master sample.
- Small production batches.
- Repeat production of successful designs.
- Maintaining consistency between pieces.
- Professional hand-finishing and quality control.
Bridal/Fashion Jewellery Making - Relevant skills may include:
- Bridal, fashion or costume jewellery production.
- Light soldering / basic soldering for jewellery components and findings.
- Soldered joins where appropriate.
- Understanding when to use soldered construction versus cold connections.
- Cleaning and finishing soldered components neatly.
- Austrian/Swarovski crystal jewellery.
- Chains and jewellery findings.
- Headpins and eye pins.
- Jump rings and connectors.
- Wirework and wrapped connections.
- Crystal settings.
- Cup chain.
- Jewellery assembly.
- Earrings, necklaces and bracelets.
- Hand finishing.
- Small-batch production.
- Accurately reproducing approved samples.
Pearl Jewellery - Relevant skills may include:
- Pearl stringing and knotting.
- Drilled and half-drilled pearls.
- Pearl pins and peg settings.
- Pearl clusters.
- Wirework with pearls.
- Pearl earrings, necklaces and bracelets.
- Attaching pearls professionally to findings.
- Appropriate jewellery adhesives and clean application.
- Professional finishing.
You do not need to specialise in both areas. If you are particularly experienced in only one, I would still very much like to hear from you.
Location
Applicants must be physically based and completing the work within a European Union member state.
The work can be carried out remotely from your own studio or workspace.
Although this vacancy is listed in Milan for LinkedIn search purposes, applicants are welcome from anywhere within the EU.
Malta-based applicants are very welcome.
Please note that I am not currently considering production based in the United Kingdom or other non-EU countries, as components and samples will regularly need to travel between Malta and the maker.
This is not a role for:
- Jewellery designers looking primarily to create their own collections.
- CAD-only designers.
- Factories or mass-production suppliers.
- Finished-jewellery wholesalers.
- Traditional fine-jewellery bench jewellers without relevant fashion/accessory-making experience.
- Suppliers wishing to manufacture their own designs under the Sarah Gauci brand.
I will provide the creative direction and designs. I am looking for someone with the technical making skills to help bring those designs into production.
How to Apply
Please send
- A short introduction about yourself.
- Your city and EU country.
- The jewellery-making techniques you specialise in.
- Photos, portfolio links or examples of work you have personally physically made.
- Any previous jewellery, accessories or production experience.
- Your current freelance or part-time availability.
- Whether you work from your own studio/workspace and have your own tools.
If your background does not match every point above but you have excellent practical jewellery-making skills that you think would be relevant, please feel free to get in touch.
