Org. Setting and Reporting
- The United Nations Global Service Centre (UNGSC) provides critical Supply Chain, Geospatial, Information and Telecommunications Technologies services and Training to all Secretariat Entities, Peacekeeping and Special Political Missions, Agencies, Funds and Programmes of the UN system worldwide. This position is located in the United Nations Global Service Centre, Brindisi, Italy within the 3R (Return, Refurbishment, Reuse) Programme Team of the Supply Chain Service. The Transport Assistant reports to the Logistics Officer/ 3R Programme Manager.
- Responsibilities
- Within limits of delegated authority, the Transport Assistant will be responsible for the following duties: - Monitors the maintenance and repair of UN-owned vehicle fleet and associated assets and equipment returned to UNGSC for refurbishment. - Assists with the administration of contracts between the UN and contractors for maintenance and repairs on UN-owned vehicles, assets and equipment returned to UNGSC for refurbishment. - Conducts physical inspections and ‘spot checks’ ensuring the accuracy of records - Compiles ad-hoc and periodic reports and documentation regarding fleet maintenance and repair status and redeployment. - Supervises the performance of technical inspections on motor, heavy duty and engineering equipment and prepares relevant tables and reports, as necessary.
- Determines generic technical specifications for the maintenance and repair of motor, heavy duty and engineering equipment, estimates quantities for requisitions for spare parts, tools, and related equipment/accessories. - Assists with the collection and analysis of data as well as preparation of data presentations and reports for information sharing, responding to queries, knowledge management, planning and decision making. - Assists with data visualizations for reporting purposes and the updating of information material such as web pages or brochures. - Performs additional, ad-hoc tasks as and when required by the supervisor.

- Job - Specific Qualification
- Valid driving license type B is required. Valid driving license type C is desirable.
