The Finance Division (CSF)



recommends and administers financial policies and procedures that meet the highest professional standards; keeps accounts that accurately record financial activities and meet the requirements of internal and external audits; prepares reports to accurately portray the financial status of the Organization and its activities; ensures that the Organization's financial resources are securely kept and productively employed while in FAO's custody; oversees financial operations wherever performed in the Organization; and ensures that all disbursements are timely and made in accordance with established policies and procedures.
The position is located in the Finance Division (CSF) at FAO headquarters in Rome, Italy.
Reporting Lines
The Young Professional Officer (Finance) reports to a Senior Finance Officer in CSF.
Technical Focus
Supports financial oversight, reporting and analysis within the Finance Division.
Key Results
Research, technical analysis and project related services to support the delivery of assigned projects, products and services.
Key Functions
Analyses relevant technical social, economic, environmental, and technology information, data and/or statistics for input in various documents.
Maintains records and updates databases and web pages.
Provides technical support to various projects.
Collaborates in the development of training tools and materials and the organization of workshops/seminars, etc.
Participates in the organization and follow-up of meetings, consultations and conferences, the production of required materials and the provision of information and assistance to partners.
Specific Functions
Collects, reviews for accuracy and analyzes financial information and/or internal financial controls to support the delivery of various financial services/activities.
Analyses financial and/or investment data to support financial decisions.
Participates in the development of improved work methods and procedures.
Participates in special project/work teams.

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING
Minimum Requirements
Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in finance, business, or related field, or a first degree in similar areas coupled with a professional qualification linked to risk management or investments (CPA, CA, FRM, CFA etc.).
One year of relevant experience in accounting, finance,



investments or related field.
Working knowledge (proficiency - level C) of English and intermediate knowledge (intermediate proficiency - level B) of another FAO official language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish).
Technical/Functional Skills
Work experience in more than one location or area of work, particularly in field positions is desirable.
Extent and relevance in finance, accounting or investments.

Extension of fixed term appointments is based on certification of performance and availability of funds
