Job Role
As a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer, you’ll join a small, efficient Infrastructure & Helpdesk team, supporting the Cloud & Infrastructure Tech Lead and Director of Infrastructure & Cyber Security. Your primary focus is delivering the IT roadmap and strategy, integrating 14–20 acquired firms into Group infrastructure across the UK & Ireland, and maintaining high-quality technical support in line with SLAs.
Around 70% of the role is project work—architecting solutions based on business needs, risks, and growth, and leading the coordination and delivery of new technical solutions, infrastructure improvements, and supporting processes.
Exceptional customer service is essential, with strong written, verbal, and organisational skills. You must be able to manage your own workload, balancing multiple incidents and projects while meeting deadlines.
You’ll have the autonomy to design and deliver the best solutions for users, developing your technical skills by working with a wide range of products and technologies.
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality 3rd line technical support and accurately document issues and resolutions.
- Deliver new IT solutions aligned with the IT roadmap and execute authorised changes through proper change management.
- Manage your own workload effectively while suggesting and implementing technical/process improvements.
- Mentor and support the Infrastructure team, assisting with SLAs, uptime reporting, and BC/DR testing.
- Identify, document, and report IT risks, helping prioritise and remediate them.
- Act as team lead in the absence of the Head of Infrastructure.
- Work with third-party providers, completing necessary IT due diligence.
- Take ownership of incidents/requests, escalating when required.
- Produce clear documentation (reports, policies, procedures).
- Occasional travel across the UK as needed.
Skills and Qualifications
- Excellent customer service with strong troubleshooting and fault-finding skills.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
- Full UK driving licence with business-insured transport.
- Proven ability to manage and prioritise a high workload.
- Advanced administration experience with Windows Server (2016–2025), Active Directory, Group Policy, Intune, Office 365, Azure, SQL (2012–2016), DHCP/DNS, and IIS.
- Strong networking knowledge, including VLANs, routing, Extreme switching, and diagnosing network issues.
- Significant experience with Sophos firewalls, switching, and WiFi.
- Solid understanding of security best practice, BC/DR, and leading technical responses to security incidents.
- Current Microsoft certifications preferred.
