The topic:
The projects ROBO&M; and Supernova focus on the development of field-robotic solutions for inspection activities in solar farms.



Fraunhofer Italia is in charge to develop a hardware prototype as well as the control software modules of the field-robot. Within the scope of the projects, several activities can be proposed for students activities and thesis works:
- Pose estimation of the mobile robot with respect to natural landmarks,
- Setup and hardware testing of the mobile robot prototype and its modules (including PLC programming, field-tests etc.),
- Work on the autonomous navigation capabilities of the mobile robot.

Requirements:
- You are a university student in mechatronics, robotics, computer engineering or similar.
- You have programming experience in C++, Python. Knowledge of the Robot Operating System (ROS) 2 is a plus.
- You work independently, systematically, and with a high level of commitment, creativity, and team spirit.
- You are an EU citizen or have a valid work permit for Italy.
- You are proficient in English; knowledge of Italian or German is an advantage.
