The Port Arthur Historic Site Management Authority (PAHSMA) is the custodian of
some of Australia’s most profound cultural landscapes, recognised for their
global heritage value. Established to preserve and protect the Port Arthur
Historic Site, PAHSMA is also responsible for managing the Coal Mines Historic
Site and Cascades Female Factory. Together, they form part of the UNESCO World
Heritage-listed Australian Convict Sites and are of international significance.

At its core, PAHSMA connects people with a complex history to inspire
understanding, deepen engagement, and shaping appreciation of the past for
future generations. PAHSMA’s mission is to lead in conserving, creating and

Port Arthur is one of the most visited destinations in Lutruwita/Tasmania and a
key driver of economic activity in the region. Unlike many heritage
organisations in Australia and also internationally, we generate approximately
80 per cent of the revenue required to sustain our operations, visitor
experiences and conservation commitments.

The Chief Tourism Operations Officer is a newly created role at PAHSMA that
leads a diverse tourism, hospitality, retail, events and visitor services
